Memories of Memories

By Kyle FPublished 10 days ago 1 min read

One breezy afternoon, on a beach hill above the water, a turquoise cat decided to play a little serenade for the moon.

She was too beautiful this night, he thought.

So he took his little violin, tucked it under his chin and started to play. As he did, depressions of the strings rang out. The cords filling the air of melancholic grandeur, pouring the loneliness from his soul. The wind cradled the notes in its arms carrying them up and through the starry night. The moon took in the melody of the little cat's swan song, feeling the intimacy in the music.

It was beautiful, she thought.

As she smile down she can see him with his eyes closed, focused on giving her the best performance he could deliver. In that moment she was grateful. Grateful to hear this special melancholic tune he prepared just for her. Saving her from another shallow night. He was almost complete but she didn’t want it to end.

The cat playing out the suffering of his soul knew it was yet to be his time to go. Unlike the moon he was content, He just wanted a chance to give the moon a night to remember fondly, and to cherish with her heart. An amazing beauty deserves that much.

With the last stretch of his song, he slowed down a bit. To draw attention to the drawn out notes, drowning in his own melody in perfect harmony.

“I am afraid.”

“Don’t be.” said the moon.

“Wretched folly to be victim of faded and foggy memories. Memories of memories. I will still remember you.”

As the last note brushes from his violin, he sheds a tear. A burden quickly lifted from his shoulders. A seemingly endless night is at its end.

The moon smiles at the cat one last time.

“Goodnight, my sweet. I’ll see you tomorrow."
