Don't leave your life before it leaves you.

When protecting yourself turns into losing yourself

I think there's something really sad about realizing you've been gone from your own life for a while and didn't even notice when it happened.

You were there for all of it, technically, but none of it was really reaching you anymore.

Time moved. Life unfolded.

And somehow, you weren't really inside any of it.

The scary part is a person can live like that for a long time and even call it normal.

Then something hits you out of nowhere and you remember you used to feel more than this. Wanted something different.

And for a second, you can see the distance between who you are and who you became while trying to protect yourself from getting hurt, disappointed, or worn down by everything.

That's the part that feels the saddest. It's not really talking about death.

It's more like describing disappearing before your life is even over.
