Mama, I can’t say I love you
Just know that I do
All the wars I fought have destroyed me
I’m not the person that you once knew
The roads I’ve walked, no man should see
And parts of me were left behind
It’s why I don’t see beauty anymore
There’s only darkness on my mind
Mama Mama, can’t you see
What the military has done to me
Mama Mama, I need you to see
I’m not who I used to be
All the feelings that I ever had, have been destroyed.
My emotions all but erased
I really don’t like the way I feel
what I’ve become I completely hate
So Mama, I beg you
Don’t look at me with those eye’s
I remember the days when I felt something
But now I’m just broken inside
Mama Mama, can’t you see
What the military has done to me
Mama Mama, I need you to see
I’m not who I used to be
Mama please understand
I’d say I love you if I could
My feelings have been repressed for so long
And the world isn’t ready for the flood
Mama Mama, can’t you see
What the military has done to me
Mama Mama, I need you to see
I’m not who I used to be
Now they say that all your scars will heal overtime
But I can tell you that just isn’t true
Some nightmares can’t be left behind
Nor the faces draped in red, white, and blue
That’s the reason why I can’t ever sleep at night
And why I’ll randomly cry
And I’ll carry this emptiness with me
“With Me” Until the day I die….
Mama Mama, can’t you see
What the military has done to me
Mama Mama, I need you to see
I’m not who I used to be
Mama Mama, can’t you see
What my service has done to me
Mama Mama, I need you to know
That this kills me right down to my soul
