chickadee

no sun without you

By Daniel GregoryPublished 10 months ago • 1 min read

(mr sun waited to crawl out

til after you woke today.

no point in sunrise if it’s

not reflected in your eyes.

stars drop out of the sky

at night to compare to you.

you’re the inspiration

for the moon. )

snow hits my

face and melts in

with tears i thought

id forgotten how to

conjure eyes glued up

on an inexplicably

pitch black sky. i can

still see last

nights stars lookin

down at you in awe.

chickadee or somethin

like her who over slept,

missed her alarm

or just plain decided to

stay a wee bit

longer to enjoy

the first snow of

late fall ,

woke me this morning.

i swear she sang your

name with the

sunrise.
