Before My Words Arrive

Silent thoughts finding their way to the world.

By Sayeba khanPublished about a year ago • 2 min read

Iwander through the shadows of my mind,

Seeking pieces of myself I can’t find.

Every heartbeat whispers a silent plea,

A story untold, just between me and me.

The world moves fast, yet I stand still,

Caught in moments I cannot fulfill.

The sky above, so wide and vast,

Holds secrets of my present and my past.

I remember mornings when sunlight kissed my face,

And evenings where dreams left no trace.

The laughter of strangers in streets unknown,

Echoes of a life that I’ve always known.

Words hover on the tip of my tongue,

Stories of love, of battles unsung.

Yet silence keeps me chained, confined,

A library of thoughts trapped in my mind.

The seasons change, yet I remain the same,

A quiet observer in life’s endless game.

Leaves fall, flowers bloom, rivers flow,

But the rhythm of my soul moves slow.

I try to write, I try to speak,

To give form to the thoughts I seek.

But each sentence feels incomplete,

A fleeting shadow I cannot meet.

In the night, when stars pierce the dark,

I find my voice, a tiny spark.

It flickers softly, it glows, it fades,

Yet through it, my spirit wades.

I dream of oceans, vast and free,

Of soaring high, beyond the tree.

Of mountains tall that touch the sky,

Where silent wishes learn to fly.

But reality tugs, a heavy chain,

Moments of joy intertwined with pain.

And yet I write, because I must,

In words I place my hope and trust.

Every tear becomes a line, a rhyme,

Every heartbeat counts in rhythm and time.

The world may not listen, may not see,

But these words are a part of me.

Before my words arrive, I hesitate,

Afraid they’ll arrive too late.

Afraid they’ll fail to touch the soul,

That they’ll not complete what makes me whole.

But even in fear, I continue to write,

Turning darkness into light.

Each stanza, each verse, a step I take,

A bridge from the heart I can’t forsake.

The echoes of silence, the whispers of night,

All find their place in my quiet fight.

And as the morning sun breaks through the gray,

I know my words will find their way.

So here I stand, pen in hand,

A soul navigating a boundless land.

Before my words arrive, I dream, I sigh,

And let them soar, letting them fly
