Suzuki Jimny

Suzuki is known for producing affordable compact automobiles, and the 2022 Suzuki Jimny compact off-roader is no exception.

There are a lot of questions about the Jimny, with tremendous enthusiast appeal from the four-wheel-drive community and equal interest from more moderate drivers who just appreciate the bulky appearance.

Here are some of the most frequently asked Suzuki Jimny questions, with straightforward answers, to assist you decide which 2022 Suzuki Jimny to buy.

Which Suzuki Jimny 2022 is the best?

The Jimny's advantage is that the range is extremely easy. Jimny Lite and Jimny are the only two models available.

The Jimny offers a few visual and equipment enhancements over the Jimny Lite; both have a five-speed manual transmission, but only the better-equipped Jimny has a four-speed automatic transmission.

Over the Jimny Lite, we prefer the fully loaded Jimny. While it is somewhat more pricey, the additional features are well worth it.

Is the Suzuki Jimny 2022 a safe vehicle?

Out of a maximum five stars, the Suzuki Jimny receives a three-star safety rating. Testing takes undertaken in 2019, with more stringent standards given to automobiles that had been tested lately.

Testing revealed poor protection ratings for vulnerable road users (pedestrians and cyclists) at 52%, safety aid systems at 50%, and adult occupant protection at 73%.

Front and side airbags for front seat occupants are standard, as are head-protecting curtain airbags for front and rear seats.

Both Jimny models come equipped with autonomous emergency braking (which may detect a possible collision and apply the brakes in an emergency to decrease the severity of the collision), lane-departure warning, driver tiredness recognition, and high-beam assist.

The passenger compartment of the Jimny lost structural integrity in a frontal offset impact, and the driver's airbag deployed with inadequate pressure, allowing the driver's head to contact the steering wheel, according to ANCAP testing.

Is the Suzuki Jimny a fuel-efficient vehicle in 2022?

The Jimny is fuel efficient due to its compact size and light weight.

Jimny manual variants promise to consume as little as 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers. Suzuki claims 7.7L/100km in city driving and 5.7L/100km on the highway.

The Jimny automatic is rated at 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers. This reported figure jumps to 8.2L/100km in town, with 6.1L/100km on the interstate.

Those stats aren't as efficient as a similarly sized hatchback or road-going small SUV, but they're still impressive for an off-road car.

Is the Suzuki Jimny 2022 a petrol or diesel vehicle?

In Australia, the Jimny is equipped with only one engine. It's a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 75kW at 6000rpm and 130Nm at 4000rpm.

In Japan, the Jimny is also available with a 660cc three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 47kW and 96Nm. This engine (together with adjustments to the bodywork) ensures that the Jimny meets Japan's kei car (or light car) compliance rules, which do not apply in the United States.

Is the Suzuki Jimny automatic in 2022?

Depending on the model, the Suzuki Jimny comes with a manual or automatic transmission.

The higher-spec Jimny comes with a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. The Jimny Lite is only available with a five-speed manual transmission.

Is the Suzuki Jimny a 4WD vehicle in 2022?

The Suzuki Jimny is a four-wheel-drive vehicle in the classic sense.

This means it features a part-time 4x4 system that operates in rear-wheel drive for on-road circumstances, but a driver-engaged four-wheel-drive system with high- and low-range for off-road use.

The Jimny also includes a ladder frame chassis, which is common on utes and heavy-duty 4x4s such as the Jeep Wrangler. To promote off-road articulation, the front and rear axles are stiff with coil springs.
