I grew up watching Fast and Furious movies. Watching those beautiful and fast cars, made me fall in love. The first vintage car I saw was the 1970 Dodge Charger - which Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) had built with his father. With this, I was introduced to vintage muscle cars.

The '60s was the decade where true muscle cars thrived. Big block engines, thumping engine sounds, cars were made of solid steel. They were built like tanks. Unlike today's cars, the driving pleasure was not hindered by electronics. Hydraulic steering wheel connected driver to the road and both man and machine became one.

Vintage cars are uniquely beautiful

Modern cars all look the same, Whereas each vintage looks different. Every single one of them has a unique character. At a glance, you can identify the brand and model of the car. Manufacturers were bold with the color choices unlike now where every car is white, black, and grey.

In short, if you need a car that is unique, beautiful and character buy a vintage muscle car.

Fun to Drive

Big V8 engines were the norm during this period. More than efficiency the emphasis was on power and speed. The car was built for the enthusiasts and it showed. Direct steering, throttle pedal directly connected to the carburetor, Big powerful engine, lighter body, and solid brakes what more to ask for. The driver is mechanically connected directly to the car. No lag everything is instantaneous.

Easy to work on

The vintage cars were simple and easy to repair yourself. Not a ton of electronics that could go wrong. A huge engine bay means a ton of room for you to work. Even if you are a newbie you can learn to work on your car just by watching YouTube. You can remove and take apart your whole engine with some minimal tools. Whereas in modern cars, apart from some minor changes you can't do much.

Live forever

Even though these cars are more than 50+ years old, the parts are still available for most of them and at a reasonable price. As you can easily work on these cars with some basic care they will run forever.

Relationship

Working on your car, fixing every small and large repair by yourself will help you build a strong relationship with your car.

Just like Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) dad, you can build a vintage car with your kid and cultivate a strong bold. This is from my bucket list. Build a car with my kid and cherish the time we spend together. Also part my knowledge, so my kid can pass on to their kids.

Ton of space

Vintage cars were huge. There is enough space to put 5 adults and a weekend's worth of luggage. Bench seats are comfortable and big. Crazy legroom to keep passengers happy. You and your passenger will never feel cramped.

Here is a list of my favorite Vintage Muscle cars

1965 Shelby GT 350

The most iconic mustang ever produced is the 1965 Shelby GT 350. Beautiful 2 door coupe, powerful small block 289 cu in (4.7 L) engine was available in either 3-speed automatic or 4-speed manual. The maximum horsepower of 306 which was insanely fast at the time. The purchase price in 1965 was $4,547, However today the value of these cars is upwards of $300000. The demand is extremely high, hence they are rarely seen in the used car market.

1970 Chevy Chevelle

With Chevelle, GM brought big boy (Big Block) engines to the masses. 454 cu in (7.4 L) engine produced a healthy 360 horsepower. However optional LS6 version, equipped with a single 4-barrel 800 CFM Holley carburetor produced 450 bhp. This is one of the fastest cars of the period. Coke-bottle shaped body looks gorgeous. Chevelle came in various shapes and forms, including the famous El-Camino.

1970 Dodge Charger R/T

Legendary Charger from Fast and Furious was Dodge's answer to the Mustang's and Camaro's. Equipped with 440 Hemi engine produced 390 horsepower. This car has a cult-like following to date and asks for a pretty premium to own one.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Camaro ZL1 with 427 cu in (7.0 L) V8 big block engine produced 430 hp and was the most powerful and fastest car of the time. Not only horsepower, tight handling, but also light body made this car a track monster.

Vintage muscle cars are not just cars, they are American heritage. Most of these cars created history. With successors still in the sale from manufacturers today. They represent an era of cars where manufacturers competed to create the fastest car.
