The journey of the Indonesian automotive market throughout 2020 experienced quite a shock, where sales of new cars fell by 45 percent compared to 2019. Not only that, the Covid-19 pandemic situation also shifted consumer appetite in buying cars. Now, LCGC cars or city cars like the Daihatsu Ayla 2021 are on the rise.

This trend is not only for new car purchases, but also occurs in the used car market. Is it because the price is more affordable? There is a point, but it turns out that privacy reasons also contributed to the increase in LCGC users compared to the previous year.

"For the type that is in demand, the used car refers to the new car market 4-5 years ago, the majority MPV. But we also see a shift to LCGC or compact car. Driven by the pandemic, people want to be more private and don't want to be busy," he said Halomoan Fischer, as the President Director of Mobil88 during the Daihatsu web seminar session.

Before the pandemic broke out, LCGC sales were not as successful as they are now. Now, the 7-seater version of the Daihatsu LCGC, namely Sigra, could even be the best-selling, shifting Daihatsu Xenia. Demand or community needs can be fulfilled with a car that is more affordable.

"In terms of demand, Xenia is decreasing. When compared to Sigra and Calya, sales are still better than Xenia. Sigra is both 7-seater but the price is more affordable," said Hendrayadi Lastiyoso, Hendrayadi Lastiyoso, Marketing & CR. Division Head of PT Astra International, Daihatsu Sales Operation, on the same occasion.

The used car market conditions have also experienced a similar impact due to Covid-19. With the start of the Covid-19 vaccine, it is hoped that the sales of used cars will improve. It may be a bit difficult to return to 2019, but used car sales are expected to increase by 15 percent.

Talking about the 2021 market, we are optimistic that it will be the same as 2019 after vaccination. For the car, it will decrease by 40%, in 2021 we hope that it can increase by 15% if the vaccination does not go smoothly. We have a prediction this year is better than 2020, "explained Fischer.

The Selling Price of Used Daihatsu Cars is Stable

During a pandemic, quality used cars are in great demand by the public. This is because public transportation is no longer the main choice due to the potential for clusters to spread the virus.

The need for transportation modes has now been replaced by private vehicles. Based on sales data, Daihatsu remains the people's choice in the used car market.

From the data of PT Balai Auction Asta Natra Jaya (AUKSI) in 2020, it shows Daihatsu as the number 2 best-selling brand (19%) for the used car market in 2020.

Not much different, at Mobil88 which manages Astra's used car business, Daihatsu is also ranked 2nd in sales every year. This brand contributes 16% of total sales in Mobil88.

Of all the existing product lines, MPV type vehicles are the most popular models for potential customers. MPV has a large capacity both in terms of passengers and goods.

Besides being the most popular, Daihatsu used cars also don't take long to sell quickly. The Daihatsu brand car's turnover ratio in the Mobil88 showroom was recorded less than 1 month. Usually in the range of 2-3 weeks can be sold again after being acquired.
