UMW Toyota Motor Delivers 7,300 Vehicles in June 2026, Closes Second Quarter at 20,800 Units Year-to-Date Sales Surpass 36,200
7,300 vehicle deliveries in June

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has released its latest sales performance figures, revealing steady and consistent demand for its vehicles as the brand navigates a period of significant product expansion and strategic transformation. The company reported 7,300 vehicle deliveries in June 2026 alone, bringing the total volume for the second quarter of the year to 20,800 units. When combined with the results from the first three months, the cumulative year-to-date (YTD) sales have now reached more than 36,200 vehicles, representing a strong start to the year in Malaysia’s competitive automotive market.
Strong Momentum and Customer Trust
Commenting on the results, Datuk Ravindran Kurusamy, President of UMW Toyota Motor, expressed satisfaction with the performance, noting that it reflects not only the appeal of the brand’s growing range but also the long-standing confidence Malaysian buyers have in Toyota’s reliability and value.
“Our second‑quarter performance reflects continued customer confidence in Toyota’s product line‑up and the diverse choices we are bringing to the market,” he stated. “However, our commitment goes far beyond simply introducing new vehicles. We are focused on building a complete ownership ecosystem that gives customers greater choice, confidence, and convenience throughout every stage of their journey from the moment they select a vehicle to long after they drive it home.”
He added that the brand’s strategy is designed to meet the evolving needs of motorists across the country. “By combining our multi‑pathway approach with innovations that showcase the future of mobility, and initiatives that strengthen everyday ownership, we continue to deliver solutions that are meaningful, dependable, and relevant for Malaysians, regardless of their driving habits or budget.”
Expanding Choices Through Multi-Pathway Strategy
One of the key factors driving UMWT’s sales momentum is its “multi‑pathway” approach to mobility, which offers customers a range of powertrain options rather than focusing on a single technology. This strategy has been rolled out aggressively since the start of 2026, giving buyers the freedom to choose between conventional internal combustion engines, fuel‑saving hybrids, and fully electric models according to their lifestyle, budget, and infrastructure access.
The first half of the year saw several major additions to the local line‑up:
January 2026: The best‑selling Toyota Vios received a major upgrade with the introduction of a hybrid electric (HEV) variant. This marked the first time the popular compact sedan was offered with electrified technology, delivering improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions while retaining the space, practicality, and affordability that have made it a favourite among Malaysian families and fleet operators.
April 2026: In a landmark launch, UMWT introduced three fully electric vehicles, expanding its reach into the zero‑emission segment. These include the Urban Cruiser EV, a compact city‑friendly electric SUV; the Hilux EV, bringing electric power to Malaysia’s most popular pickup truck; and the bZ4X, Toyota’s dedicated global electric SUV built on a purpose‑designed EV platform. The launch signalled the brand’s commitment to offering sustainable options for both personal and commercial use.
May 2026: Following closely was the arrival of the all‑new Yaris Cross, which was launched with a clear choice of powertrains a 1.5‑litre petrol engine and a self‑charging hybrid system. This model sits between the Vios and larger SUVs, filling a gap in the market for a versatile, efficient, and stylish crossover that caters to both urban and occasional highway driving.
Market Position and Future Outlook
With these additions, UMWT now offers one of the widest ranges of powertrain options in the Malaysian market. This flexibility allows the brand to remain competitive as the industry transitions toward greener mobility, while still supporting customers who rely on tried‑and‑tested engine technology.
Beyond the vehicles themselves, the company has also been working to strengthen its after‑sales network, service support, and ownership benefits. This includes expanding charging infrastructure for electric models, introducing service packages tailored for hybrid and EV owners, and ensuring that spare parts and technical expertise remain accessible across all regions of Malaysia.
As the second half of 2026 unfolds, UMWT remains optimistic, noting that the strong YTD figures provide a solid foundation for the rest of the year. The company plans to continue refining its offerings and enhancing the overall ownership experience, ensuring that Toyota remains a top choice for Malaysians looking for quality, durability, and forward‑thinking mobility solutions.
