Toyota GR YARiS actual car unveiled

We have captured the actual pictures of the new Toyota GR Yaris, a high-performance version of the new Yaris with a three-door hatchback layout and a turbocharged 1.6T three-cylinder engine with a maximum horsepower of 272 PS.

This extremely rambunctious performance of the Yaris overturns our impression of the gentle Yaris model, and more importantly, it is the second GR series globalization model after the GR Supra.

The GR Yaris is purely performance-oriented, based on the TNGA GA-B platform, with a specially reinforced and lightweight frame structure, carbon fiber roof, aluminum hood/door/tailgate, and the ordinary version of the Yaris is similar to the GR Yaris in outline.

GR YARiS's appearance with a strong Japanese performance model, the most eye-catching than the large wide-body design of the front and rear wings, if you look at the current production performance cars, there are only a few with a wide-body design and such an exaggerated and aggressive style. In the middle of the car's front envelope is a piano-painted mouth grille, the fog lamp area on both sides has air slots and black trim, and the wide body with a very aggressive look.

Toyota added a lot of curves to the very tight body of the GR Yaris, creating a rich and dynamic visual effect. The front and rear wide body allow the car to widen the wheelbase and fit wider tires and wheels. It is reported that the car is equipped with original tires Dunlop SP Sport MAXX 050 or Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with 225/40 R18 specifications.

Inside the 18-inch ten-spoke lightweight wheels hide high-performance brakes consisting of front four-piston/rear two-piston brake calipers and front 356 mm/rear 297 mm scribed brake discs. For the GR Yaris suspension system, Toyota has put in a lot of effort, not simply in the ordinary version of the suspension based on a more damp shock bucket, but specifically corresponding to the performance orientation of the suspension redevelopment design.

At the rear, the car is equipped with a black spoiler, black rear lip and bilateral dual-exit sports exhaust, and black trim between the taillights to further emphasize the competitive tone. In terms of dimensions, the GR Yaris has a length, width, and height of 3995/1805/1455 mm and a wheelbase of 2560 mm.

As a performance car, the interior of the GR Yaris naturally features an all-black color scheme. This set of interior changes the GR sports steering wheel, the GR instrument panel with 280 km/h meter bottom, metal pedals, leather and Alcantara spliced sports seats, and other configurations on the basis of the regular version of the new Yaris.

In terms of comfort and convenience features, the car is equipped with a large center touch screen, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, JBL audio, etc. The car does not shrink in comfort features for the pursuit of pure driving sensation.

The GR Yaris is powered by a specially enhanced 1.6T three-cylinder turbocharged engine with 200 kW (272 PS) and 370 N-m peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and GR-FOUR all-wheel drive system. Officially, the car can accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than 5.5s, and the top speed is limited to 230 km/h by the electronic system.

The all-wheel drive system of the car named GR-FOUR is an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch type four-wheel drive, which can realize the power distribution between the front and rear axles switching between 100:0 and 0:100. The power distribution between the front and rear axles is somewhat similar to Subaru's DCCD 4WD, and the driver can directly control the power distribution of this 4WD through the 4WD mode adjustment function.

In normal mode, the power distribution between the front and rear axles is 60:40 by default, 30:70 in sport mode, and 50:50 in track mode. the 4WD system then actively adjusts the power distributed to the front and rear axles according to changes in road conditions and the driver's operation, to achieve the best handling performance and stability.
