Toyota C-HR, the new small SUV of GAC Toyota, was officially launched. As the first small SUV model of the brand, the car has sci-fi and avant-garde styling design as one of the selling points, which can attract the "value control" in the same class market. The new car is equipped with only 2.5GHz and 2.5GHz. The new car is equipped with only one powertrain, 2.0L+CVT, and a total of 8 models are available.

New car introduction.

The Toyota C-HR's styling is just too individual, with a bold and aggressive design style that is very eye-catching. As a small SUV, its size is not small, and it has a clear advantage over its mainstream rivals, but its height is a bit low, so its overall silhouette does not look ", particularly SUV". The rear design is more three-dimensional than the front, with a wide roof spoiler and dynamic taillights that seem to hold endless imagination. In addition, the new car is also available in a special edition with different appearance kits, in advance in the design of front and rear surrounds, side skirts, wheel arches, and so on.

Like the exterior, the interior shape also follows the design idea of exaggerated and full of dynamic style. The interior material uses a lot of soft material wrapping, and the unique shape design enhances the overall sense of refinement. The upgraded Toyota HMI human-machine interaction system with touch screen, the system contains navigation, Baidu Car Life cell phone connection, and other functions, and the degree of intelligence is in line with the mainstream level of the same-level models.

In terms of riding space, the headroom is about 1 fist when the 179 cm-tall experienced person sits in the front row and adjusts the seat to the lowest position. When the experienced person sat in the back row, the surplus of head and leg space was 2 fingers and 1 fist + 2 fingers respectively. Although not spacious, the performance of C-HR is still acceptable among small SUVs. However, due to the small rear window, the rear view is not particularly good and seems less permeable.

All four models of the C-HR do not provide a power sunroof, so those who care about the sunroof configuration need to be mentally prepared. In terms of storage capacity, the trunk space performs well, with a regular depth and minimum width of 770 mm and 950 mm respectively, and more spacious and flat storage space can be formed by lowering the back of the rear seats, and the maximum depth can be increased to 1600 mm.

Powertrain and Test Drive Review.

In terms of power, the Toyota C-HR offers only one Dynamic Force series 2.0L engine for the TNGA architecture in its entire lineup, and its maximum power and peak torque are 171 hp and 203 Nm respectively, which is outstanding enough data compared to the engine output of the rivals in the mainstream self-absorption lineup, such as the Nissan Escape 2.0L and also the Honda Colorado 1.8 L. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission that can simulate 10 gears, which improves the gear speed by 20% compared to the traditional CVT.

In the face of congested road conditions, the power performance is slightly stifling, with no too-spirited performance below 2000 rpm. But as soon as you get a chance to deepen the throttle, the whole output is much more enjoyable after the revs go up, and there is even a very good burst of power after 3000 rpm. Moreover, the CVT transmission on the C-HR is a bit bloodthirsty, and the revs rise aggressively when accelerating rapidly, so the power is quite sharp and the higher the revs are, the more excited and brave it is, and there is no "complaint", so it is full of confidence when overtaking.

The C-HR adopts the E-type multi-link rear suspension, and its most outstanding aspect is comfort. The vibration filtering performance is quite in place, and the small potholes and undulations on the road are filtered crisply, and a little toughness can be fed back, so it doesn't feel too hard to bounce, which is a big surprise.

The size and feel of the steering wheel are just comfortable, giving a very relaxed feeling. The steering feedback performance is also pleasing, with 2.75 turns of the steering wheel, the response is a bit compact taste, and the body follow-up is direct enough. The official turning radius is 5.2 meters, a little smaller than some mainstream small SUV rivals like the Honda Colorado (5.55 meters), and you can feel its more agile body when turning around in the city streets. In addition, the suspension is well-supported, so it still performs relatively calmly in the corners.

New car background.

The C-HR can be GAC Toyota's first attempt at a small SUV. After its launch, it will attack the joint venture small SUV market with its sister model, FAW Toyota's Eze IZA, in a two-car strategy. As one of the first SUVs based on the TNGA architecture launched by Toyota in China, the new car uses the latest 2.0L+CVT power combination, which has strong advantages in power response and smoothness.

Competitor models and market analysis.

In the field of joint venture small SUVs, Toyota C-HR will face a lot of competitors, among which the most direct rival is FAW Toyota EIZO, which has the same positioning and is listed one day earlier than the C-HR. Besides, other Japanese models such as Honda XR-V, Colorful, T-ROC Tango, and Liberty will also be the competitors that C-HR will face in the future. However, considering the avant-garde shape of the C-HR, we expect that it will be able to capture the hearts of some young users in the future with its relatively eye-catching exterior design.

Model Summary.

In addition to its avant-garde appearance, the C-HR also has certain advantages in terms of power smoothness and response according to our previous tests, and the acceleration time of fewer than 10 seconds can also enhance the user's driving control positivity and the driving quality is also good.

The small SUV field is now a must for more and more joint venture brands. In terms of price, we can see that the C-HR, like other competitors, is aiming at a market of about 150,000-200,000 yuan, and this price range is not only the main battlefield for small SUVs but also some compact SUVs. Of course, we hope that the C-HR can further improve its strength in terms of product configuration and other aspects so that it can better participate in the competition in the future.
