Top 10 Ferraris of All Time

Since its founding in 1939, Ferrari have time after time produced stunning cars which have often been considered some of best-looking cars of all time.

There are two things which give Ferrari the stature they have achieved over the years. The first is its strong racing pedigree and the second is its ability to produce astonishingly alluring motors with a timeless design.

The positions on this list are reserved for the absolute beauties, the real head-turners.

10. Ferrari LaFerrari

When it comes to the LaFerrari, the numbers really do the talking: 950 bhp, 227 mph. 0-62 mph in under three seconds. 0-124 mph in under seven seconds. 900 Nm of torque. The body of this car has been sculpted by aerodynamics, and as a result, art has been created. This car is famed for being part of the holy trinity of hybrid hypercars, along with the Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1.

9. Ferrari 458 Italia

Bounds and leaps forward in both technology and design from its predecessor, the F430. Astounding good looks created as a result of detailed aerodynamic design. With 562 bhp and 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, its beauty is coupled with some real performance figures.

8. Ferrari 250 GT California

With an auction price of $15.2 million, this is definitely one of the most sought-after Ferraris of all time. Taking one look at it, it is easy to see why. This is a car that could have been much higher on this list on a different day.

7. Ferrari 365 GTB/4 'Daytona'

The Daytona marked a new era of design for Ferrari, following on from previous generations, which carried smooth curvy lines throughout the bodywork, the Daytona was more angular and aggressive than previous models. While widely known as the Daytona, this name was only adopted by media after Ferrari's 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1967.

6. Ferrari 330 P3/4

One of the most successful and well-known race cars in Ferrari's history. Two of these P4s and a 412 P were responsible for the 1-2-3 photo finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours. Given the fact only four P4s were made, they are extremely rare today.

5. Ferrari F40

Famous for being one of the most well-balanced drivers' cars in history. Also famous for how stripped out it is inside with strings for door handles. Paintwork has been reported to be so thin that the carbon fiber weave is visible underneath. All of this done in the name of performance. Its main competitor was the Porsche 959, but that was a technological masterpiece of its time—a completely different beast to the pure performance driven lightweight F40.

4. Ferrari 288 GTO

Originally intended for group B circuit racing in which a minimum of 200 road going versions had to be built, 272 were made. Before they had the chance to prove their might, group B racing failed to take off (although the Group B rally series was far more popular in which the Audi Quattro and Lancia 037 dominated). The well-balanced design and perfectly proportioned body are what makes this car so appealing for me.

3. Ferrari 488 GTB

As a replacement for the 458, you would expect it to be better. The 488 is, however, on another level of performance. With over 100 bhp more and 0-62 in three seconds flat, it would make short work of its predecessor. The aerodynamics have been improved ensuring it manages to obtain up to 50% more downforce than the 458—not to mention its breathtaking beauty.

2. Ferrari 250 GTO

Growing up this had always been my favorite car. The car combined the svelte lines of a Ferrari with the muscularity of the Shelby Daytona Coupe, creating something really special in my eye. I still have a model of the dark blue 250 GTO featured in Vanilla Sky in my bedroom. Obviously, I had expensive tastes growing up because today this car sells at auction for up to $60 million. Only 36 of these cars were produced, making them extremely rare today.

1. Ferrari 350 Can-Am

I only discovered this car in the last couple of years and it was love at first sight. I found the curvaceous lines so appealing to the eye and immediately it landed itself at the top of my favourites list. Its bodywork reminded me of a well-sculpted physique, something reminiscent of natural beauty.

The car came about in 1967 after the Ferrari 330 P4s had finished their stints as successful race cars. Two P4 chassis's were then used to create a car for the Canadian-American Challenge, hence Can-Am. I would love to tell you that this car absolutely dominated its class. However, it did not. Its best result was 5th place at Laguna Seca in 1967.

The unsuccessful career aside, the muscular beauty akin to that of a lion is what makes this one of the best looking track cars of all-time, in my opinion.
