The new BMW Z4 concept car was officially released

On the eve of the opening of the Pebble Beach Auto Show in the United States, the new BMW Z4 concept car was officially unveiled in real life. The shape of this concept car foreshadows the design concept of the new generation BMW Z4, which is developed by BMW in cooperation with Toyota and will be officially mass-produced in 2018.

In terms of appearance, the design of the new Z4 concept car is relatively subversive compared to the BMW models on sale. The classic "double kidney" grille shape has been upgraded and the traditional vertical bar design has been replaced by an internal dotted decorative block, creating a visual effect similar to a star.

At the same time, the new sharply shaped LED headlights adopt the upper and lower layout of the "angel eye" LED daytime running lights, which is also a new element of the new design style. In the bumper section, both sides and the lower air inlets are very exaggerated in size, with a more combative style, perhaps foreshadowing the design elements of the production version of the new Z4 M40i model.

Side part, the new Z4 concept continues the tight sidelines of the BMW Z series sports car, with a two-seat convertible design, while the rear of the headrests is equipped with two raised reinforcement structures, but this is only the design of the concept car, because the reference to previous spy photos, the new Z4 production version will use a soft-top convertible structure.

The new car adopts the design of an upper and lower double waistline, the overall trend of low in the front and high at the back, while the upper waistline is also connected with the wing radiator, the shape is quite powerful. In addition, with 20-inch double five-spoke wheels and huge brake calipers, also makes the new car's side visual effect very aggressive.

At the rear, the design of the new Z4 concept is quite futuristic. Overall, the new car's rear line is sharp, the taillight cluster is very slender, full of technology. At the same time, the new car adopts a relatively convergent size of bilateral two-out chrome exhaust outlets, the bumper is also arranged on both sides of two large grooves, with the upper edge of the rear bumper curved small spoiler design, enhancing the three-dimensional sense and recognition of the rear.

In the interior, the new Z4 concept car adopts a black + camel color scheme. The center console has a wrap-around design that wraps around the driver, along with the stylized lines, new polygonal full LCD instruments, and a sporty four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, giving the center console a very strong combat feel. In the lower center console gear knob area, the new car adopts a new style of gear knob design, its shape has completely abandoned the current "chicken leg" electronic gear knob, and the new car's iDrive system control area has also been changed, the buttons are flatter.

As for the seats, the new driver's and passenger's seats are arranged in colors corresponding to the center console, with the driver's seat wrapped in black leather with a yellow pattern on it; while the passenger's seat is wrapped in camel-colored Alcantara, like its corresponding passenger's center console. The passenger seat is wrapped in the same camel-colored Alcantara as its counterpart, providing a corresponding design orientation and concept for the different "identities" of the driver and passenger seats.

The power configuration of the new Z4 concept used to showcase the design direction is not the focus of BMW's desire for public attention. As for the production version, referring to the previous BMW internal leaked documents, the new Z4 production version will be equipped with B48 series 2.0T (including low/high power version) and B58 series 3.0T engines, of which the entry version (sDrive20i) has a maximum power of 197 hp and peak torque of 320 NM, matched with a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed manual transmission.
