Introduction

A PPSR check is a valuable document for you if you plan to buy a used car. You can get the PPSR check done from credible agencies like REVS Check. You need to provide a VIN number or registration number of the car and pay a small fee to get the PPSR check done. The PPSR check will help you in buying a good used car that meets your needs.

Headlights are important safety features in your used car. They need to be taken care of to ensure their longevity. If you can spot the warning signs of a failing headlight, it will help you to take corrective actions immediately. Some of the key warning signs of a failing headlight are as follows:

Dim Headlights

One of the first signs of potential problems in your car’s headlight is dim headlights. Headlights, like any other parts of your car, are subject to wear and tear over time. They can lose their shine with time compared to when they were new. A dim headlight can also create problems for you while driving in low visibility or bad weather conditions. It is a sign that the headlights are now approaching to reach the end of their lifespan. If you observe dim lights regularly, you should get your headlights checked by a good mechanic and replace it if needed.

The Problem in Switching Between Modes

Another very common sign of faulty headlights is experiencing problems in switching between modes. This can also be due to wear and tear caused to the headlight switch. Such problems can compromise your safety, especially during the night or low light conditions. A faulty or broken headlight switch may only work in a particular mode or may cause modes to get turned on or off automatically and intermittently. This can create serious safety hazards for you and it should be rectified immediately.

Problems with High-Beam Mode

If you are facing problems with high-beam mode, then it can be caused due to faulty or broken headlight switch. Due to technical fault, the headlight switch is unable to engage the high-beam mode. A headlight switch pulls a lever back and locks it which in turn engages the high-beam mode. With wear and tear, the headlight switch can break which will make it difficult to keep the high-beam mode engaged. It is not safe to drive with a broken or faulty headlight switch, as it may not allow you to switch to high-beam mode when required.

Constant Flickering of Headlights

If you observe that your car’s headlights are constantly flickering, then it is a strong indication of them nearing the end of their life cycle. Flickering of headlights is generally caused due to broken filaments or the filaments getting excessively worn out. Once the flickering has started, the bulb is likely to die down soon. Hence, it is strongly recommended to replace the headlight if the flickering continues.

None of the Headlights are Working

A more serious problem with the headlights is when either one or both of them stop working. A headlight that out indicates serious problems with it and needs to be replaced. You should replace a not working headlight without delay as it can create safety issues while driving in the night.

As headlights work for your safety and visibility, they are the most important bulbs to be there on your vehicle. Hence, you need to pay attention to them. If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned above, or any of your headlights get damaged, you need to consider going to a professional technician to get your vehicle diagnosed immediately. Don’t neglect the matter.
