November is just a few months away, but Ram is set to release an electric pickup truck that will surely be a head turner. The Ram EV truck is expected to have a longer range than other electric pickup trucks on the market. It is perfect for anyone who wants the power and performance of a pickup truck but doesn’t want to deal with erratic gasoline prices. It will also come with several features sure to please fans of the Ram brand. Here are some updates about the upcoming Ram EV truck.

Showcase in November

For the Detroit automaker, November is a significant month for unveiling the new Ram Revolution. A lot of fans are excited to see the concept of the Ram 1500 electric pickup.

The concept will be revealed ahead of the prestigious Los Angeles Auto Show. It is also two years ahead of the planned production and date of sale. The brand's CEO, Mike Koval Jr., said in an interview that the concept of the full-size electric truck would open up a lot of eyeballs. He said that the EV is going for a sleek, modern, yet dramatic look that will set it apart from the conventional truck lineup.

Ram last to launch EV truck

According to Ram's CEO, the electric Ram 1500 is coming along according to plan. Even though Ram is not the first to release a truck on the market, they are dedicated to bringing the best battery electric vehicle in 2024. The CEO also boasts that the brand knows what its competitors are doing.

Among the "big three" American automakers, Ram is the last to launch an electric pickup. Ford is enjoying the success they got with the F-150 EV called Lightning. General Motors also released the electric version of their popular GMC Hummer, while the startup Rivian has the R1T. Moreover, other electric truck options, such as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, are coming next spring.

The Ram Revolution EV pickup is expected to go on sale in 2024. The company has shown some teasers of the concept earlier this year. Other than the front LED light signature, no additional hints are given.

According to an article published in the Detroit Free Press, Ram will organize the pickup truck concept. The debut event is one day before the initial day of the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, which is set to run from the 18th to the 27th of November.

What's cool about the upcoming Ram truck?

Ram is close to locking in the final design, but there's still room for flexibility for adjustments. Here’s some info about the anticipated vehicle:

  • Platform: The electric Ram will use the Stellantis STLA Frame global platform, which provides quick charge times and an impressive battery pack
  • Charge capacity: the battery that will be included in the truck will have more than 200 kWh capacity
  • Range: The truck spews out up to 500 miles of range, but there will also be a smaller 159 kWh battery pack that offers up to 400 miles on one charge.
  • Measurement: The truck is expected to measure between 220.5 and 244.1 inches.

Ram offers customization-friendly trucks. If you’re an adventure-seeking driver, putting off-road tires will help the vehicle to perform better on rough terrains. If you’d like your pickup to be a head-turner as you drive by the streets, installing fender flares and other truck accessories can improve its looks.

Ram is comparable to other truck makers because it makes changes based on what the competition is doing. Another good thing about the brand is it makes modifications based on customer feedback, especially when they established the year-long Real Talk Tour. They crisscross the country and gather input on what customers want from an electric full-size pickup truck.

Aside from interviews, many customers gave feedback on the new truck concept. They expect it to retain a good performance—or better—given that the Ram 1500, Ram HD, and the Ram TRX are impressive and have won awards. The people also want it to be authentic to the brand.

Keeping up with the truck race

A lot of people are open-minded about the idea of electrification in pickup trucks. However, they are unwilling to sacrifice most core attributes, such as towing, that make a truck a truck. Koval says they receive the message that people still need “trucks capable of doing truck things.”

Nowadays, buyers are eager to buy electric pickup trucks. Besides the tech-advanced and luxurious models, Ram will also offer basic, utilitarian versions that individuals may use as work trucks.

Ram is indeed in a race, especially with the fast-growing electric truck market. Even if it’s a little late to the party, the brand looks pretty confident in its upcoming electric truck. Brand chief Koval said it is the “transformative period in the history of the brand.”

Trucks to look forward to

Although the brand chief did not go into specifics, it was mentioned in an interview that Ram would push past its competitors.

After the Ram EV hits the market, the company will continue to build Ram 1500s with a combustion engine for a while. This gives consumers options as they're still transitioning to all-electric and hybrids. According to Koval, Ram is also looking at the new Hurricane engine that debuted in the full-size SUV model 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L. Even though the EcoDiesel V6 has been an impressive engine, the Detroit automaker will stop its production at the end of January 2023.

Aside from the mentioned powertrain options, several power options will be available. The top-of-the-range dual-motor version comes up to 885 horsepower that runs on an 800-volt electric architecture. The lower-range models will get 400-volt systems but with slightly slower charging speeds.

Koval also teased about a “big” heavy-duty truck. The event takes place at the State Fair of Texas on September 30—a few days after Ford unveiled the redesigned F-Series Super Duty on September 27th.

Moreover, the executive says something about the plan to show a midsize truck concept at a dealer convention in March next year. He told the reporters that he was in South America earlier this year and got a glimpse of small compact pickups. The brand chief says those trucks could fit well in the U.S. market as they look “really, really good.”

Could it be that the truck referred to is the Fiat Strada-based 700 released in Mexico? No one has no idea what truck Koval was talking about, but there’s a possibility that it can be included in the U.S. lineup in the future.

For now, many Ram fans look forward to November as the brand unveils the much-awaited Ram Revolution electric pickup. The company is also working on other trucks that will be released in the future.
