Proton Iriz

The Proton Iriz hatchback, which was first debuted in 2014, has a large following that is growing with each passing year. To increase sales even further, the manufacturer recently updated it with substantial design changes and new technology. The Proton Iriz will be available in three trim levels in 2021: 1.3 Standard, 1.6 Executive, and 1.6 Active.

Without a question, the hatchback's latest redesign has made it a lot better value than before, but it still lacks certain key features. We've compiled a summary of Proton Iriz advantages and disadvantages to assist you in determining whether or not to purchase it.

Pros of the Proton Iriz

Exterior style

The hatchback's outside appearance has been updated to make it look more fashionable and sportier. A new front grille and bumper, all-around body mouldings, LED headlights with auto on/off and follow me home functionality, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a black roof finish are among the changes.

Connectivity options that are impressive

The Proton Iriz excels in terms of connection, thanks to its new 8-inch floating infotainment touchscreen display, which is paired with the Geely Key User Interface and an eSIM for online music streaming, navigation, and weather forecasts. It also has an upgraded "Hi Proton" voice control system, as well as 4G and WiFi smartphone and Bluetooth compatibility. You may now operate the air conditioning and driver's window, as well as navigation, music, and communication, using the latter. Six USB ports are also included in the package (2 on the back, 3 on the front, and one behind the rearview mirror).

Comfortable interior

The Proton Iriz also has an intelligent entry system with a push start button, a leatherette steering wheel with radio and phone controls, a TFT multi-info display, semi-leather comfy seats, a front armrest with a storage box, power windows, and a N95 cabin filter.

Engine with a lot of power

Proton provides two engine options for the Iriz: a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder in-line 16 Valve DOHC, VVT engine and a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder in-line 16 Valve DOHC, VVT engine. It produces a peak torque of 120 Nm at 4,000 rpm and a maximum power of 95 PS at 5750 rpm. The base model is powered by this engine, while the higher-end models are powered by a larger 1.6-litre 4-cylinder in-line 16 Valve DOHC, VVT engine that produces 109 PS at 5750 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.

There is no manual gearbox option with the Iriz, thus all variants are equipped with a Continuous Variable Transmission technology that sends power to the front wheels.

Cons of the Proton Iriz

Interior Space

The facelifted Proton Iriz is mediocre in terms of internal spaciousness, especially when compared to its outward proportions. The back seat may not have enough room for three full-sized persons, and tall people may feel cramped compared to others who are smaller. The back seat likewise has less under-thigh support than the front.

The quality of the materials

The material quality is another major letdown. While the seats and armrests are covered in leather, the dashboard, door panels, and other areas are still made of hard plastic. However, depending on the price range, it would have been wonderful if the update included some high-quality materials in the cabin.

Should you buy one?

The 2021 Proton Iriz Used Cars is undoubtedly an attractive urban hatchback with a feature-rich cabin and energetic performance. This is a good choice for those who don't care about the interior material quality or spaciousness, but require a safe automobile in a reasonable price range.
