Porsche has officially announced the launch of the 2014 Panamera. The new car has a total of 7 models and 5 engine options.

Exterior design.

The Panamera does not change much relative to the old model, with changes made only to somebody's details. Its overall shape remains the same as that of the old model, still exuding the unique charm of Porsche. In the front part of the car, the most obvious change can be seen in the style of the front surround, with larger air intakes making it look more aggressive. In addition, the headlights have been slightly modified, and for the first time, LED light sources have been adopted, and the headlight washers have been changed to a hidden design.

The side part of the body and its overall shape is also consistent with the old model, the most obvious changes are the three Executive long-wheelbase models, their wheelbase reached 3070mm, compared to the other four standard wheelbase versions of 2920mm wheelbase lengthened by 150mm. The overall lines are still harmonious. Unless you are very familiar with the Panamera, it is hard to see the changes in detail.

At the rear, the license plate has been repositioned from the top of the rear surround to the lower part; the rear windshield has been enlarged, so the view will be more open; the lines of the taillights have become sleeker and the internal structure has been readjusted. These detail changes do not bring too much impact, and the overall design of its rear end remains smooth and full.

Interior design.

Panama's interior is a good continuation of the old model's design, and the layout, color palette, and materials used inside the car create a high-end luxury atmosphere. Of course, the Porsche blood still flows in its bones, so we can see the traditional Porsche design in some detail, the instrument panel is the most obvious place.

Configuration.

The Panamera upgrades feature such as a keyless entry system and reversing camera image to standard equipment. In addition, the new car also adds 14-way fully electric adjustable seats with memory function, four-zone automatic climate control and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), etc.; the 2014 Panamera S Executive model uses a BOSE stereo surround sound system; and the Panamera Turbo Executive also adds a rear folding table The Panamera Turbo Executive also includes a rear folding table, which is more convenient for business people to deal with daily emergency work.

Power.

Panama's powertrain is slightly adjusted compared to the old model, where the Panamera and Panamera 4 are equipped with a low-power version of the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine with a maximum power of 320hp and a maximum torque of 420N-m; the Panamera S Executive and Panamera 4s Executive The Panamera S Executive and Panamera 4S Executive are equipped with a high power version of the 3.0L twin-turbo engine with a maximum power of 420hp and a maximum torque of 520N-m; the Panamera GTS uses a 4.8L V8 naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 441hp and a maximum torque of 520N-m. The 0-100km/h acceleration time of this GTS model is 4.4 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than that of the Panamera S Executive. The Panamera Turbo Executive is equipped with a 4.8L V8 twin-turbo engine with 520hp and 770N-m torque, accelerating from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 305km/h.

There is also a Panamera S E-hybrid 3.0T model, which uses a plug-in hybrid system, consisting of a 3.0L V6 mechanical supercharged engine with 333hp and an electric motor, the total maximum power of the whole hybrid system is 416hp, and the power system is matched with 8-speed automatic transmission.

Editor's Comment.

Without a doubt, the biggest attraction of the Panamera is the introduction of the extended wheelbase version. From the situation in recent years, the development potential of the luxury car market is huge, and the sales of this class of models are increasing year by year, coupled with consumers' love for longer cars, so Porsche's move to launch a longer version of the Panamera is not difficult to understand.
