New Lexus GS officially launched

Lexus officially announced the official launch of its new Lexus GS, with a total of five new subdivision models.

New Lexus GS Product Description.

The new Lexus GS was initially officially launched in August 2015, and the new car has a series of improvements for the styling aspect in this facelift. It borrows some design elements from the GS F, incorporating elements including a more angular spindle grille and new LED headlights, while the LED daytime running lights in the lower part of the headlights also feature an independent designer for a more youthful and sporty overall look.

The body dimensions of the new Lexus GS are 4879/1840/1455mm in length, width and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2850mm, and is positioned as a mid-size car. The shape of the rear of the new car compared to the old model is not as obvious as the front change, mainly the taillights with LED light source, and the internal structure has been finely adjusted.

Inside, the overall interior layout of the new Lexus GS has not changed much from the old model, using a dark and light interior color scheme, and embellished with wood grain trim. However, the new car is equipped with a new-shaped three-spoke steering wheel and a 12.3-inch multimedia display.

The new Lexus GS is equipped with heated and ventilated front seats, heated, power-folding, and anti-glare exterior mirrors, power sunroof, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, one-touch engine start, keyless entry, reversing camera, 10 airbags, Hill Descent Assist, traction control and electronic body stability system as standard equipment. In addition, some models are additionally equipped with matrix LED headlights, leather seats, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone air conditioning, a 12.3-inch LCD screen, a power luggage compartment tailgate, parallel blind spot monitoring, and an electronic brake control system.

GS 450h is equipped with a hybrid system composed of 3.5L V6 engine and electric motor, with a combined maximum output of 345 hp. The transmission system matched with the hybrid system is the ECVT transmission.

Competitor analysis.

Speaking of the new Lexus GS competitors, as the quality, and positioning of the two overall high luxury brand medium-sized cars, its direct competitors are more locked in the Cadillac CTS and Jaguar's new XF, for this relatively more concerned about the quality of more than 400,000 yuan luxury brand medium-sized car market, they are destined to be difficult to become a volume model, the greater significance of the product or to enhance the Brand value.

Of course, since the luxury brand midsize car market is mentioned, we cannot ignore the old traditional midsize cars such as BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6L, etc. The new Lexus GS also has a competitive relationship with them but compared with them, the Lexus GS has no advantage in terms of sales. In addition, although it comes from the same family as the Lexus ES is a mid-size car, the GS is more in pursuit of product positioning, and provides a rich enough configuration, while the ES is more focused on cost performance.

The current generation of Lexus GS has finally received a facelift after four years, and the new model is more focused on matching the latest Lexus family design concept. Although the configuration has been improved to a certain extent compared to the old model, it is difficult to say that the new Lexus GS product itself has made a qualitative leap in competitiveness. However, the new car equipped with the 2.0T + 8AT power combination for the first time is a lot of surprises. Compared with the old 2.5L + 6AT combination, it is obvious that the GS 200t power equipment is more in line with the current trend, and also gives it enough competitiveness to break hands with the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and even Audi A6L models. Although the sales of Lexus GS models have been lukewarm, I believe that the launch of the GS 200t model in this facelift, will bring a touch of new vitality to car sales.
