Mercedes-Benz in the product line of "opening up the territory" and a step forward, Mercedes-Benz new model series - X-class pickup officially released, this car and Nissan Navara built on the same platform, mainly for Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe several major markets, there is no plan to enter the Chinese and American markets for the time being. It is reported that the car is priced at 37,294 euros in Germany.

Mercedes-Benz revealed its plans to enter the pickup market in 2015, and in October 2016 officially unveiled the concept version of the X-Class, which is based on the same platform as the Nissan Navara and the Renault Alaskan and will also be produced in Nissan and Renault factories (Nissan factory in Barcelona, Spain, and Renault factory in Cordoba, Argentina).

The exterior styling of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is derived from other existing models and it is offered in three exterior styles low to high PURE, PROGRESSIVE, and POWER. In terms of details, the louvered double-spoke grille and the wing-shaped headlights on both sides are common designs of Mercedes-Benz in recent years, of which the higher models will be equipped with LED light clusters for a more upscale look. At the same time, the front bumper of the new car will also be offered in different styles, as shown in the above two cars, the low models will use a pure black front bumper design, while the high models will add chrome guards, more stylish and dynamic.

The exterior body of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is 5340/1920/1819mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3150mm, and the cargo compartment is 1587/1560/474mm in length, width, and height. the new car also provides a lighting system for the cargo compartment, consisting of LED lights located at the high brake light position, and a 12V power supply will be provided in the cargo compartment to meet the needs of other electrical equipment. Meanwhile, the new car offers 17, 18, and 19-inch wheels depending on the configuration.

The new rear bumper design, like the front bumper, is divided into a "plain" version (PURE in black and PROGRESSIVE in the same color as the body) and a chrome version (POWER), depending on the model. With the rear bumper installed, the rear fender opens at an angle of 90 degrees. To further enhance convenience, Mercedes-Benz also offers a version without the rear bumper, which raises the opening angle of the rear fender to 180 degrees. We can also see the difference between the lower and upper models at the taillights. Although both have the novel vertical taillight design, the higher models will have LED light strips inside the taillights for a better lighting effect.

Speaking of the option of not adding a bumper, the Mercedes-Benz in-house designers and development team have created a wide range of optional accessories for the car to meet consumers' requirements in terms of functionality and off-road capability. For example, consumers can choose to install side sills, side rails, cargo covers, and so on.

In terms of interior design, officials also admitted that the car borrows a lot of design elements from the V-Class. The new car's center console will be available in three different styles: matte black, aluminum effect, and brown wood grain effect. The top of its center console will use faux leather and the round air conditioning vents are to create a sense of movement. The size of the center screen is 8.4 inches, with a resolution of 960x540, and has functions such as panoramic view and navigation.

For the powertrain part, the X 200 is equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine with a maximum power of 166 hp and peak torque of 238 Nm; the X 220 d and X 250 d are equipped with a four-cylinder diesel engine with a maximum power of 163 hp and 190 hp, and peak torque of 403 Nm and 450 Nm, respectively. The transmission system is matched with a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission (X 250 d models only). The X 220 d and X 250 d can also be equipped with the 4MATIC four-wheel drive system (non-four-wheel drive models are rear-wheel drive). The vehicle is said to have a maximum load of 1,042kg and a towing capacity of 1,650-3,500kg depending on power.

In 2018, Mercedes-Benz will also launch the top-of-the-line X 350 d model, which will be equipped with a six-cylinder diesel engine with a maximum power of 258 hp and peak torque of 550 Nm, mated to a 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission. This car will also add an all-wheel drive system, shift paddles, and a driving mode selection function that will provide comfort, ECO, sport, manual and off-road modes.
