In the line of entry level scooters, the Yamaha Gear 125 or Yamaha Nmax is categorized as a cheap scooter. For the price, this product is pegged starting from Rp. 16 million only. However, is it really worth buying and able to meet the needs of mobility facilities?

Design and Design

The general expectation is that this type of scooter is usually designed with a compact body. Like also with the Gear 125 which was recently launched. The dimensions of the result of the combination of length, width and height are 1,870 x 685 x 1,060 mm.

Then the seat height is 750 mm and the ground clearance is 135 mm. Ideal for the use of the average Indonesian body. The agility in controlling it is also supported by the low handlebar placement. Which means young in directing the direction of the wheel.

Even so, friendly design is not the only major factor that buyers are now looking for. In fact, design is also important when making choices about a motorcycle. In appearance, the Gear 125 offers quite an attractive presentation. Of course it is different from other cheap Yamaha scooters such as the Mio Z, Mio M3 125 and even the Soul GT.

The eye view of the LED headlights is not only bright, but unique because it uses a pair of low beams and a high beam (top-down). Then, there is another evening light or positioning lamp at the top. Unfortunately it's still a bulb.

Even so, this face is clearly fresher than a line at this level. For information too, similar lamps are also applied to rear lighting - turn signal and brake lights.

Driving the Gear 125 itself cannot be separated from how Yamaha designed the deck as a foot support. And this feeling like driving Honda Yamaha R15.T The shape, especially on the front, looks flat and there are a few parts that protrude forward - to protect the shoe from splashing water.

The most unique part is on the rear deck. When moving, the legs will be tilted like the position of riding a racing motorbike. In other words, the deck of the Gear 125 is quite flexible and varied for the rider. This area also provides moderate leg room. Though a console to the left of the key house. It also includes a power outlet to recharge the smartphone.

Accommodation

The availability of leg room is not without reason. The reason is, such a design is also made to provide more accommodation. Moreover, there are also two double hooks, if the buyer wants to put his belongings around the deck. Another container is available under the seat to place absurdly large sized items. There is also a fuel tank with a capacity of 4.2 liters. For information, the volume of gasoline Gear 125 is equivalent to the Honda Beat or Genio.

Features

There is nothing special about the application of the lock system. Gear 125 still uses a magnetized lock housing. But there is a remote answer back system if consumers buy the highest type (Yamaha Gear 125 S Version). This device is used to locate the motorbike in the parking lot. When pressed, a notification appears in the form of a sound and the turn signal flashes too.

However, Gear 125 owners cannot find this modern side when looking at the meter panel. All basic information about the scooter is presented in an analogous manner. Compares a little with the Honda Beat. This rival has a digital cross section as a combination of the speed indicator in the form of a needle.

Fortunately, there are still eco indicators available as an efficient driving guide. Even if you are proposing the top type, there is a Stop & Start System (SSS) feature. The activation of the automatic on-off button is located on the right handlebar. In active condition, the Gear 125 engine will shut down when it is idle in about 5 seconds.

This item is also the combination of the Smart Motor Generator (SMG). Hence, there is no need to press the starter again when turning the engine back on. Just twist the gouache lever. The existence of this SMG also affects the process of starting a smooth engine on the Gear 125.

Performance and Handling

What about the mechanical heart's ability? Gear 125 is equipped with a Bluecore injection engine of 124.96 cc. The output recorded by the manufacturer is 9.3 Hp at 8,000 rpm, and a torque of 9.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. This achievement is certainly greater than the Honda Beat which is capable of 8.8 hp / 7,500 rpm and 9.3 Nm / 5,500 rpm.

Yamaha Gear 125 handling is supported by a pair of tubeless tires measuring 80/80 14 inches and 100/70 14 inches (front-rear). The shock absorbers put forward the general configuration of cheap scooters, namely single suspension at the rear and telescopic to support the front legs. As for deceleration, the front and rear wheels rely on a combination of discs and drum.

Price Comparison with Competitors

For the price, the Gear 125 is not the cheapest in Yamaha's entry level line. This product comes in two variants, namely Gear 125 Standard and Gear 125 S Version. Each sold for Rp. 16,750 million and Rp. 17,350 million (on the road in Jakarta).

But nominal is still very competitive with the Honda Beat. The lowest type, namely Beat CBS is sold for Rp. 16,450 million, while Beat CBS ISS and Deluxe is Rp. 17,150 million and Rp. 17,250 million. However, keep in mind, the Yamaha Gear 125 is superior in terms of performance.

Conclusion

It is clear that Yamaha really hopes to reap the entry level scooter market that it controlled in the mid-2000s, at that time they became the pioneers of the type of scooter with Yamaha Nouvo and Yamaha Mio. Don’t think that the annual tax on motorcycles is very small. Want to know what Yamaha’s annual tax is? Click: Pajak kendaraan.

Yamaha seems curious and is making every effort to be able to regain the status of the entry level scooter ruler, which is the fattest market segment in Indonesia. On the one hand, consumers benefit because Yamaha provides many product choices in the same segment.
