We all own that one car which is our second love! (For some it may even be the first!) And we know how special it is to us. Not to forget how essential, convenient, and functional. But a car demands maintenance too. Right from the time you start saving for your car, plan to arrange for financing (if needed), and then all the efforts for taxes, pollution check, cleaning, oiling and more—a car needs a disciplined vigilance and preservation.

We often stress too much on the overall look of our vehicle—the extra gears, the sparkling appearance, and so on. But think about the advantages that we enjoy in a car—the long drives, those road trips, the daily work commute, running errands, etc. Have you noticed that your car houses you and your loved ones as it moves?! That’s why keeping it safe is also vitally important!

Tips to Keep Your Car Safe From Any Kind of Harm

Some measures should be taken to see to it that your beloved vehicle is safe and sound and well kept. Let’s read how we can do it!

  1. A Garage is a Must—The first thing a car needs is a good place to be parked! Roadside parking or keeping it at some alley can be hazardous. You never know when it can get robbed. Or it may get dirty, because of birds nesting on it, or stray animals roaming over it. There may also be dust accumulation and some damages due to rain and heavy snowfall (that may require a lump-sum to be spent on repair). To avoid the same, ensure you build a garage in your own premises. And for further safety, always keep It locked. If by any chance your door is broken or doesn’t lock or shut properly, repair your garage door immediately. DOIC Garage Doors are the ones who have been providing the best solutions for garage door issues for nine good years. They have the best solutions for your garage door problems, and all at a fair price too.
  2. Keep the Keys Safe—Always make sure the first thing you do when you come out of the car is take the keys out of the ignition. And after that, be sure to keep them safely with you. For better safety, always keep the key attached to a key-chain, and a spare key for convenience. There are also digital locks introduced in the market recently, which work on codes. Install those if possible, but be sure to write the code somewhere (in case you forget it), and never share it with anyone. If you aren’t careful with your keys, you never know, someone might get it and take away your car.
  3. Car Covers are Useful—Sometimes, when you buy a new car, it comes with a car cover. But if you don’t have one, get one! Make a point to cover your car always after a drive. Especially if you rarely use the same. This prevents the car exteriors from getting dirty and damaged. Even the interiors are safe from dust. Your car stays safe and clean with the help of the car cover.
  4. Install Steering Lock and Other Latest Security Devices—A steering lock provides better safety for your car. You can install it and keep your steering jammed. In this case, even if a robber is able to open your car, the thief won’t be able to drive it. Also, there are GPS Trackers available that ensure a regular tracking of your car wherever it is. Also, you can keep your car connected to your smartphone through a software that would further help you to keep an eye on your car.
  5. Build a Carport—A carport can be built if you don’t have enough space and finances to build a garage. Also, if you are staying at a rented place, and you don’t want to invest much and still want to park your car under your vigilance, a carport works best. When parked in a carport, with the open space around the car, the engine gets cooler faster, which adds to its better performance.

Keeping a car isn’t much of an effort. You just need to be a little more cautious about your parking and locking habits. Again, the introduction of various digital gadgets have made our lives easier. And when it’s closer to us, we can personally keep a watch on it.
