Ferrari Purosangue

After the official picture was released on September 14, the actual Ferrari new SUV model Purosangue has been officially unveiled in Italy. It is reported that the selling price starts from 390,000 euros. We learned from relevant sources that the Ferrari Purosangue is expected to announce its price in October.

Unlike other sports car brands that have ventured into SUVs to increase sales, Ferrari has said to the foreign media that the annual deliveries of the Purosangue will be limited to less than 20 percent of the total annual deliveries of the Ferrari brand, which is opposed to the Urus, which accounts for about 50 percent of Lamborghini's total sales.

Previously, the Ferrari Purosangue has been targeted at VIP users who have opened new car reservations. The car is expected to announce its domestic price in October, followed by its domestic debut in November, with deliveries taking place as early as 2023.

Since the Ferrari brand announced the Purosangu project a few years ago, there have been intense discussions about the car, mainly related to Ferrari's previous statement that it would not get involved in the SUV segment. To this day, the Purosangue is not an SUV product in Ferrari's view but is defined by the brand as an FUV, or Ferrari Utility Vehicle, which translates to "Ferrari Utility Vehicle" in Chinese.

From the actual car, Ferrari Purosangue has a thicker body shape and a relatively high waistline, and the front end has part of the Ferrari SF90 design style, while the rear end draws on part of the Ferrari 296 taillight modeling characteristics.

According to the configuration information revealed by the foreign media, the Ferrari Purosangue is available in 24 body colors, 6 wheel rim shapes, and 5 brake caliper colors, and the interior can be selected from 27 different materials and colors such as leather and Alcantara.

The front doors of the Purosangue open at an angle of 63 degrees, while the rear doors open at an angle of 79 degrees with a new electric counter-opening design.

As Ferrari's first four-door, four-seat model, the Purosangue has a 2+2 seating layout, and all four seats are independent and equipped with power-adjustable and heated seats as standard. At the same time, the car is equipped with a 10.2-inch LCD screen for the passenger side and a Berlin Sound audio system.

The Purosangue is powered by a front mid-mounted 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine with a maximum engine speed of 8,250 rpm, maximum power of 725 hp, and peak torque of 716 NM. The transmission system is matched with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, which is located at the rear of the body and can form a 49:51 front-to-rear weight ratio. 0-100 km/h acceleration time 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 10.6 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h. The Purosangue is also said to be available with four-wheel independent steering, ABS "Evo" system with a 6-way chassis dynamics sensor (6w-CDS). At the same time, the car suspension system for the new "Ferrari Active Suspension Technology", with an active slide valve system (True Active Spool Valve System). According to Ferrari, the suspension can effectively control the body roll during cornering and tire grounding area under high-frequency bumps.

New car background.

Based on previous foreign media reports, Ferrari said the Purosangue is based on the "real" Ferrari platform, not models such as the Bentley Timbers and Lamborghini Urus, whose DNA can be traced back to the relatively "cheap" Volkswagen Touareg. The powerplant also shows that Ferrari uses a naturally aspirated V12 engine to prove the car's "pure" Ferrari heritage.

Of course, from the point of view of naming, Purosangue in Italian for "pure blood", Ferrari seeks to emphasize that this car is a "real Ferrari" through this naming.

Market environment.

If the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the "ceiling" of luxury SUVs, the Purosangue is certainly the "ceiling" of sports car brand SUVs. At the same time, just like Ferrari's brand status in the field of sports cars, Purosangue may also be difficult for consumers to find a flat alternative. But based on the SUVs built by sports car brands, the current market includes the Lamborghini Urus and the Aston Martin DBX 707.

Purosangue stopped taking orders?

According to European Automotive News, Ferrari may soon shut down orders for its first SUV, the Purosangue, due to overwhelming demand for orders. It is understood that the market demand for the Purosangue has exceeded the Ferrari brand's expectations.

Ferrari's chief commercial and marketing officer Enrico Galliera said to the foreign media, "We may be at risk of not being able to meet the demand for orders and may have to close the reservation channel soon." Meanwhile, Galliera revealed that Ferrari had been receiving orders since September 2018, when the company had announced plans for the Purosangue model. It wasn't until last May when Ferrari announced that the Purosangue would be equipped with a V12 engine, that orders for the car "exploded".

Usually, Ferrari's limited edition models are sold out before their debut, and according to Ferrari's plan, the company will not produce more than 20% of Ferrari's annual production capacity for the Purosangue to protect the sales of its other core products - sports cars and convertibles. The total production of the Purosangue is expected to be around 15,000 units during its complete life cycle, which means that the annual production of the new car will only be around 3,000 units.
