Ferrari Purosangue

Finally, Ferrari unveils their much-awaited SUV this month. The Ferrari Purosangue, that's right, means 'thoroughbred' in Italian. If you asked people a few years ago if they could imagine Ferrari making an SUV, they would say no or laugh it out. However, the Maranello-based sports car manufacturer did it.

The Purosangue on the road

The Purosangue becomes Ferrari's first four-door vehicle with a new, utterly bespoke chassis but borrowed looks from other Ferrari cars. Puronsangue's design speaks for itself. Its headlights slightly resemble the ones on the SP1 Monza Ferrari. Its rearview resembles the Ferrari Roma, but it's been stretched on a medieval torture rack. I would say this SUV is a work of art since it's mind-blowing, and everyone would agree.

The Purosangue's rearview

The super SUV comes with a powerful 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 producing 725bhp and 716Nm torque with a top speed above 193mph. That's more powerful than the king of SUVs, Lamborghini Urus with 657 bhp increased for the new model from 641 bhp; Urus performance. For this reason, the Purosangue has become the most powerful production SUV but let's wait and see BMW's 750 bhp XM.

The beast SUV will come with a four-wheel drive system borrowed from the GTC4 Lusso; however, it's more modernized. The power is transferred directly from the front of the V12 engine to the front wheels using an electronic torque vectoring differential. The Purosangue will come with a new 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox located at the back between the rear wheels.

Ferrari has claimed that their super SUV will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3-3 seconds, the same as a Porsche cayenne turbo GT, new Lamborghini Urus performance, and Aston martin's DBX 707. All four vehicles share the top spot for fastest SUVs. It would be awesome to see them battle it on track and see which one takes the throne.

Ferrari Purosangue on the road

The Purosangue is fitted with a version of the 812 Competizione's four-wheel steering; however, it has been redesigned to partner with the torque-vectoring front differential. In addition, this makes the SUV more agile in tight corners. Also, Ferrari fitted the Purosangue with a brand new active suspension system that uses a unique kind of dampers to minimize body roll in fast corners.

Also, it comes with an adaptive damper and features Multimatic’s clever ‘True Active Spool Valve.’ Moreover, this has enabled Ferrari to integrate an electronic motor through a 48-volt electrical system. The hydraulic damper is connected to the spool valve, allowing more force and higher frequencies to be applied compared to the usual adaptive semi-active system.

Also, the Purosangue comes with Android Auto and Apple car play negating Ferrari’s need to include an in-house sat nav system. Ferrari Also, announced that they will not offer over the air updates since they believe it’s a technology that is not top notch for its clients. The Purosangue doesn’t come with a huge boot space since we don’t expect owners of this luxury SUV to carry loads of luggage very much.

The late Sergio Marchionne, Ferrari’s CEO, once stated that the sports car manufacturer would not develop an SUV like the Purosangue since there was no technology to enable them to create such a masterpiece at Maranello. However, things turned around in 2018 when the board gave the go-ahead to begin design and development.

Finally, here came 2022; four years later, Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue. Loyal Ferrari clients eagerly await their delivery of this magnificent engineering from Ferrari. Deliveries will probably start during Q2 of 2023, and production will be capped at 2000 Purosangues yearly at their Maranello production line. Currently, the order list for the first years is already full of eagerly awaiting clients.

Lastly, everyone has been asking what will be the cost of owning a Purosangue; well, Ferrari has not confirmed a figure yet. Furthermore, this beast will be expensive, so don't be surprised since it's estimated to go over $300,000.
