“Four wheels move the body, but two wheels move the soul.”

Travel is all about experiences and stories that remain etched in our memory forever. While there are various modes of travel, a motorbike tour is one that guarantees an unforgettable experience. As a passionate motorcyclist, I can attest to the thrill of embarking on a journey on two wheels. In this article, I will take you through a bike journey I took with a friend to Mangalore, a port city located on the west coast of India.

As the saying goes, "A motorbike, every boy's first love," and I couldn't agree more. Riding a motorcycle is a liberating experience that allows you to escape the mundane and enjoy the freedom of the open road. I love the feeling of the wind in my hair and the sound of the engine roaring as I navigate through the twists and turns of the road. It's the ultimate stress buster.

The journey to Mangalore began when I met a colleague, Mukesh, at our regular tea shop in Bangalore. He was feeling low, and when I inquired, he confided that he needed money to pay off a loan and was struggling to find a way to get it. I suggested that we take a bike ride to Mangalore to get the money from his uncle, who was leaving for abroad the next day. To my surprise, he agreed, and we decided to embark on the journey the very same day.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” –Albert Einstein

We borrowed our friend's Pulsar 150 bike and made our way to the nearest ATM to withdraw some cash. After refuelling the bike, we set off on our journey. We carried only the essentials, such as our helmets, mobiles, and camera. The weather was perfect for a bike ride, and I could feel the cool breeze on my face as we rode through Nelamangala, a traffic-less place with only a few houses along the way.

As we left the town behind and rode through sugarcane fields, the darkness and coldness of the night made us feel a bit uneasy. But as the light from our bike illuminated the way, we forged ahead. Despite the eerie surroundings, we both enjoyed the ride, occasionally shouting in excitement.

“Life is a journey, not a destination.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson

After riding for a few hours, we stopped at a Dhaba, where we enjoyed some tea and an egg omelette. The break refreshed us, and we resumed our journey. We continued riding, taking in the beauty of the landscape along the way. The ride was bumpy at times due to the internal chain slipping problem in the bike we borrowed, but we managed it well.

Finally, after riding for over eight hours, we arrived in Mangalore. We were elated to have completed the journey and relieved that we had reached our destination safely. Mukesh collected the money from his uncle, and we spent some time exploring the city before heading back home.

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” –Helen Keller

In conclusion, the bike journey to Mangalore was an experience of a lifetime. It taught me the importance of taking risks and exploring the unknown. The ride allowed me to escape the mundane and enjoy the freedom of the open road. It also helped me to realize the beauty of the journey and not just the destination. As the saying goes, "Life is a journey, not a destination," and this journey was undoubtedly one of the most memorable ones for me.
