BMW has officially released two new models the i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50, both of which are pure electric mid-size sedans. i4 M50 is a four-door pure electric mid-size sedan, and its appearance is largely a continuation of the previously released concept car, with a large "big nostril" center net, while the interior adopts the latest generation of family design. The i4 M50 has a maximum power of 544 PS, 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.9s, and a range of 510 km (WLTP standard).

The BMW i4 adopts a new design language with elegant and smooth styling, drawing on the design essence of the I Vision Dynamics concept car. The front face is visually striking, with the "double kidney" center grille continuing from the BMW family design, and the large size of the upper and lower part is eye-catching, while the embedded grille is no longer the traditional open style, but a closed design with translucent material, and the addition of dotted design elements and a circle of blue trim to further enhance the front face. The grille is no longer in the traditional open style, but in a closed design with translucent material.

In addition to the unique style of the "double kidney" center grille, the interior of the grille is a unique feature that BMW officially calls the eyes of the i4, which integrates several black technology configurations, including a variety of radars such as millimeter wave, cameras and other sensors that allow the vehicle to achieve various autonomous driving assistance functions.

The classic angel eyes are naturally not absent, but there is a new interpretation on the BMW i4, in which the headlight cluster is narrow and flat, with an embedded LED strip simplified from the previous ring to a folding line, full of texture; and the lamp cluster is equipped with matrix LED headlights as standard, supporting "hidden mode", which is only visible when the headlights are opened. Module and each headlamp unit also integrate a fixed device, which can jointly produce near and far light. In addition, the latest generation of BMW Laserlight is available as an option, with a new selective beam matrix function that increases the visibility range while avoiding over-illumination.

The long wheelbase, streamlined roof, and short front overhang outline the sexy side profile of the BMW i4, while also showing its simple yet sporty design thinking, while the sliding back design + large curved sides create an unprecedented "elegance" on the BMW. In detail, there is a metal trim similar to that of the 5 Series and 7 Series on the lower side, but the color has been changed to blue to further emphasize its new energy model. The door handle does not follow the trend of a completely hidden design, but adopts a semi-hidden design, by recessing the door handle, so that the entire handle mechanism is completely in the same plane as the door, not only can effectively reduce wind resistance, but also ensuring the practicality and design sense.

In terms of body dimensions, the BMW i4 is 4785/1825/1448 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2865 mm, a front wheelbase of 1600 mm, and a rear wheelbase of 1630 mm, and a wind resistance coefficient as low as 0.24 cd.

The rear design is more inclined to extend horizontally, and the widened body further strengthens the sporting style in terms of visual width; at the same time, the details of the rear design are full of muscularity, and the irregular lines and curved surfaces are cleverly matched to give the whole rear a fascinating light and shadow effect. The shape of the taillights on both sides is similar to that of the BMW 4 Series/8 Series, with slender and cornered L-shaped taillights with a smoked black style, creating a distinctive visual experience.

The M50 model also has a new M Performance package, which includes a sporty grille with the M logo, carbon fiber front side air intakes, carbon fiber rearview mirrors, carbon fiber rear spoiler, more aggressive rear surround, lower diffuser, etc. It is also available in exclusive Frosted Portimão Blue paint.

Entering the car, the interior of the new BMW i4 also follows the latest family design previously unveiled, the overall style can be said to combine the current BMW 3 Series iX, the overall black + solid wood veneer combination effect is no longer simply the pursuit of simple sports, many trendy and technology-flavored elements have been added to it.

It is worth mentioning that the BMW i4 has also become the second model after the I X to be equipped with the I Drive 8 system, in which the control screen has been changed to an integrated curved screen design (consisting of a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument + 14.9-inch center control), and has an ultra-narrow bezel design with a strong sense of technology; however, the most valuable thing is that the physical knob made of crystal is still retained while supporting the touch screen.

In terms of configuration, the automatic air conditioning is equipped with innovative nano-fiber filtration technology that not only optimizes the function of air cleaning inside the car, but also isolates certain microbial particles and allergens outside the car, and a high-end Harman Kardon audio system with 16 speakers, bringing a better listening experience.

In terms of interior layout, the new front seats are in line with the 4 Series, with ergonomic seats that provide high support, while the rear seats support a 4:6 ratio down, which can further expand storage space.

The BMW i4 is powered by BMW's fifth-generation BMW e Drive electric drive technology with a dual-motor four-wheel-drive layout. The i4 M50 has a maximum power of 544 PS, peak torque of 795 N-m, and 0-100km/h acceleration of 3.9s. (WLTP standard).

The i4 M50 also features exclusive tuning from BMW's M division, combining M-specific chassis technology with electric drive technology, and is equipped with an all-electric four-wheel drive system that intelligently distributes drive, giving each wheel outstanding sensitivity and transmits drive precisely to the road; and tailored adaptive M suspension, specially tuned springs, and dampers, variable sport steering, additional body reinforcement The vehicle's dynamic performance is enhanced by innovations such as the tailor-made adaptive M suspension, specially tuned springs, and dampers, variable sport steering, additional body reinforcement components and M braking system.

The i4 eDrive40 model has a maximum power of 340 PS, peak torque of 430 N-m, and 0-100km/h acceleration of 5.7 s; the matching 80.7 kWh ultra-thin 811 nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary lithium-ion battery can achieve a range of 590 km (WLTP standard). In addition, the BMW i4 supports 200 kW fast charging, which increases range by 100km for every 6 minutes of charging in the peak charging power range, and takes only 35 minutes to charge from 0 to 80%, compared to 11 hours on 11 kW AC slow charging.
