The BMW 8 Series family models are officially launched. The models on sale include the BMW 8 Series Coupe (two-door hardtop version), 8 Series Convertible (convertible version), 8 Series Gran Coupe (four-door coupe), M8, and three debut limited editions for a total of nine models.

● Model Introduction

● BMW 8 Series Coupe/8 Series Convertible

  The two-door hardtop version of the BMW 8 Series Coupe was released at the site of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2018, while the convertible version of the 8 Series Convertible was officially launched at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November of the same year. As BMW's flagship sports car, the low, streamlined body of the new generation BMW 8 Series reveals the distinctive aura of a large GT car. The double-kidney grille has evolved into a uni-body type under the new design language, and the shape is also more slender. As a sporty product, the front bar of the new generation 8 Series reveals aggressiveness, with larger air intake openings on both sides, which not only brings better heat dissipation but also enhances the aerodynamic effect.

  Side view, the new car's long front overhang, and short rear overhang shape with the curved rear design, the car looks very elegant, while the side of the harsh waistline design, but also shows its birth and sporting nature. The convertible version without the sliding back shape has a more slender body shape and looks more elegant. In the rear part of the car, the new car's overall muscular sense is very strong, the tail light group uses an LED light belt design on both sides of the rear wheel brake vents with a total of two bilateral exhaust layouts, making the new car looks very murderous.

  In terms of the interior, the new generation 8 Series looks more luxurious with the overall style derived from the concept car. The new generation of in-car infotainment system - I Drive version 7.0 will be the first to be equipped on the car, including a full LCD instrument panel that can present different styles, and a separate LCD embedded in the center console and customization. In addition, the car is also equipped with the latest BMW Crystal electronic gearshift lever, more luxurious, while the new front seats are wrapped in a very strong sports seat design and wrapped in high-grade leather, look more design sense.

  The BMW 840i will be powered by a 3.0T inline 6-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 339 hp and peak torque of 498 NM, while the 840i x Drive model is also equipped with Integral Active Steering.

● BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe

  BMW officially released the official photos of the 8 Series Gran Coupe on the morning of June 19. The new car retains the appearance of the 8 Series coupe design, but further lengthens the body and adopts the body design of a 4-door coupe, its overall proportion is more slender and elegant, and will focus on luxury and practicality.

  The interior of the 8 Series Gran Coupe adopts the same design as the 8 Series Coupe while providing a variety of leather color schemes to enhance the luxury level. As for power, the BMW 840i Gran Coupe will be equipped with the same power as the aforementioned 840i Coupe.

● BMW M8/M8 Thunderbolt Edition

  The BMW M8 is the top-performance version of the BMW 8 Series. The new car is divided into the standard version and the Thunder Edition (Competition), both of which are equipped with 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engines with a maximum power of 600 hp and 626 hp respectively, and the 0-100km/h acceleration time of the M8 Thunder Edition is 3.2 seconds.

  Based on the BMW M850i, the M8 is dressed with a more exaggerated body envelope, including new parts with large front air intakes and carbon fiber body components, creating a more fierce aura. In terms of details, the dark chrome front grille, carbon fiber exterior mirror housing, carbon fiber trim on the side wings, high-performance braking system, 20-inch M close spoke wheels, carbon fiber roof, independent rear spoiler, carbon fiber rear diffuse, and bilateral quad exhaust are all features of the M8 Thunder Edition. In terms of dimensions, the new car is 4867/1907/1362mm in length, width,h, and height, with a wheelbase of 2827mm.

  Compared with the M850i, the interior of the M8 has not changed much, only the color scheme has been adjusted, with two-tone leather M sports seats, M logo set, M sports steering wheel, per-stored driving mode switch button, red one-touch start button, carbon fiber center panel, M-themed full LCD instrument panel and center console, etc., to make the further implementation of sportiness and luxury. However, the crystal electronic gear knob on the 8 Series is replaced by a traditional style leather-wrapped gear knob on the M8 model. In addition, the new car is also equipped with a 16-speaker BAUER WE GEN Diamond Surround Sound system.

  Powering the BMW M8 is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a maximum power of 600 hp in the standard version and 626 hp in the Thunder version. The transmission system is matched with an 8-speed manual transmission and an M x Drive 4WD system with rear-wheel drive mode. The new car's top speed is limited to 250km/h but can be unlocked to 306km/h with the optional M Driver package.

  As for the chassis, the upgraded suspension components include a steering system, adaptive chassis, and standard brakes are 15.5-inch front discs with six-piston calipers, and consumers can also opt for 15.75-inch carbon-ceramic brakes. The exhaust system with valve control is also static and manic, and the driver can operate the vehicle status and driving mode with one button in the car's central computer system.
