Audi's A3 Sportback e-tron is officially launched, and the new car is available in two models. It is equipped with the same 1.4TFSI engine as the A3 Sportback 35TFSI version plus an electric motor, and officially claims to have a maximum range of 940 kilo meters in integrated mode and an average fuel consumption of only 1.5 liters per 100 kilo metres.

New car features.

A3 Sportback e-tron's appearance is highly similar to that of the regular A3, with only the e-torn new energy logo on the front and rear of the car. The air intake grille is larger and features a chrome trim strip. In addition, the A3 Sportback e-tron is equipped with LED headlights, while the regular A3 is equipped with xenon headlights.

The passenger space inside the car has not changed much, because of the battery pack (placed under the rear seats, moving back the fuel tank), sacrificing 100L of trunk space, but the rear seats can still be lowered in 4/6 ratio, and when lowered, they can also be flush with the trunk floor, expanding the performance as in the regular A3.

In terms of interior, A3 Sportback e-tron also basically maintains the A3 ordinary version of the styling design, except for a few nameplate logo on its interior, the biggest change in the car is the instrument panel. In addition, there is an EV button on the center panel, which can be pressed to select the driving mode. The classic air vent design is also retained, with more than 30 parts, which is very powerful.

The A3 Sportback e-tron's instrument panel eliminates the tachometer and water temperature gauge, replacing them with a green marker showing the total system power and a power meter showing the battery status, with the screen in the middle showing the range of the two groups.

Power, Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is equipped with an EA211 1.4TFSI engine like the A3 Sportback 35TFSI, plus a plug-in hybrid system consisting of an electric motor, whose combined maximum power can reach 204 hp and peak torque of 350 NM. The maximum power of the ordinary A3 is 150 hp and the peak torque is 250 NM. The comparison shows that the A3 Sportback e-tron is even more powerful than the model with the 1.8 TFSI engine. According to the official introduction, the maximum range of the car in pure electric mode is 50 km, and its comprehensive range reaches 940 km, with an average fuel consumption of only 1.5 liters per 100 km.

Unlike the A3 Sportback 35TFSI, which has a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the A3 Sportback e-tron has a 6-speed e-S tronic transmission with sport mode and manual gear function, and the steering wheel also has gear shift paddles.

New car background

The A3 Sportback e-tron is based on the A3 Sportback 35TFSI, and according to officials, the model will not be domestically produced, so the car does not enjoy the new energy passenger car subsidies. However, according to the information we have so far, the A6L e-tron tailored to the Chinese market is likely to be domestically produced next year.

Summary

Since the problem of slow charging and difficult charging of pure electric vehicles has been gradually exposed, plug-in hybrids should be the development research direction of car companies in recent years. However, the current price is not expensive or a chasm that consumers can not cross, and the savings in fuel costs may not be able to "pay back". In this fiercely competitive market, the only way to bring the price down, the A3 Sportback e-tron will have more advantages.
