Audi has officially released the official images of its Grandsphere concept car, which will be officially unveiled during the 2021 Munich Motor Show. The exterior of the new car adopts the design of a four-door GT model, and the interior part integrates a unique space image with a fully digital cockpit and is equipped with an L4-level automatic driving assistance system.

The new car's exterior features a short front overhang to realize the unique and specific structure of the electric drive system, a flat front hatch, and a protruding front windshield that further expands the passenger space inside the car. From the lower edge of the front hatch, a horizontal line runs along the side of the car, revealing the slender engine compartment that is characteristic of GT models. The line also runs along the entire side of the car, and its slender rear end behind the C-pillar is an extension of the streamlined shape.

On the side, the new car adopts the design of the opposite door, thus eliminating the B-pillar, but does not adopt the bezel-less window shape. The new wheels are 23 inches in size, in the style of the Audi Avus concept of the 1990s, and the wheel structure can further improve driving stability.

The rear of the roof has a dynamic sloping arch design, continuing the classic elements of the Audi Sportback model. Body dimensions, the new car length, width, and height dimensions of 5350/2000/1390 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase of 3190 mm.

Audi, a veritable light factory, has adopted a narrow headlamp cluster design on the closed grille with an internal lighting unit like a focused eye and references the four-ring brand logo. This means that the size of the illuminated area is automatically adjusted depending on whether it is used as a daytime running light or a dynamically segmented indicator, depending on the traffic situation, thus giving a clear signal in favor of safety. The shape of the taillights also has the same characteristics.

With the absence of the B-pillar, walking into the car shows a unique sense of space and hides the steering wheel, pedals, and instrument panel, making the interior more open. At the same time, the wide glass surface, the outwardly raised front windshield, and the transparent roof all reinforce this feeling.

Both the dashboard and the black screen of the virtual instrumentation system will be hidden until the driving functions are turned on, and in its place will be a comfortable space made of top-quality materials. The interior surrounds, seat covers, and carpets are made of wood, wool, synthetic textiles, and metal, and have a very nice touch, with many of the materials made from sustainable or reused raw materials.

After starting the vehicle, information about its driving appears in the form of a projection on a wooden platform under the windshield, and depending on the driving mode, such as driving mode with the steering wheel or L4 autonomous driving mode, the projection is either distributed across the entire interior space or displayed separately in front of the driver or co-driver.

In L4 autopilot mode, the steering wheel and pedals are hidden and the driving area becomes a truly free space with a wide view through the large front and side windows. The projected surface on its wooden platform can be used as a screen for video conferencing and can be controlled in a touchless way, with a combination of eye tracking and gesture control when the seat is reclined backward.

The layout of the seats is in the form of "2+2", the angle of the seats can be perfectly ergonomically set to support the automatic detection of the position of the driver and passenger, the individual seat independent adjustment of comfort features, including air conditioning settings, seats, etc.

The power part, of the new car, is based on Audi's more advanced PPE platform, the total output of the two motors is 530 kW, peak torque up to 960 N-m, power battery capacity of 120 kWh, and range will exceed 750 km. All-wheel drive can be achieved through electronic control based on driving requirements, and zero-hundred acceleration time is expected to take only about 4 seconds.

The new car has an 800 V high-voltage charging platform with DC charging power of up to 270 kW, which can add more than 300 km to the vehicle's range with just ten minutes of charging. The 120 kWh battery can be charged from 5% to 80% in 25 minutes. In addition, the new vehicle is equipped with an air suspension and an active suspension system, which can adjust the pitch and cross-swing of the chassis in milliseconds, enhancing comfort to a great extent.
