If you want to buy a performance car, the Golf GTI or the Rolls-Royce Coolpad can be said to be the closest car to your dream. Similarly, if you want to experience premium audio, the Celestial Duchess is the threshold to step into the dream journey. And dreams always have to be released, today we will introduce you to 3 exclusive audio brands for luxury cars and representative models, below we will start the journey of dreams.

If you're a classical music lover, you'll be no stranger to Bowers & Wilkins, the brand that John Bowers and his friend Peter Hayward founded in 1966 in Worthing on the south coast of England as Bowers & Wilkins Electronics. They stuck to a pragmatic and low-key approach, investing all their profits in corporate R&D to create the perfect loudspeaker. This officially announced the birth of the Bowers & Wilkins brand.

The company, which has been developing monitors since its birth in 1966, has a strong track record of technological innovation. 1966 saw the birth of Bowers & Wilkins' first loudspeaker, the P1. The cabinet and filter were Bowers & Wilkin's products, and the drivers were sourced elsewhere. 1968 saw the launch of Bowers & Wilkins' first room monitors, the DM1 and DM3.

The 1970s were a remarkable decade of significant milestones in Bowers & Wilkins' history. It saw the company's first use of Kevlar as a cone material. Tests on driver cone materials showed that Kevlar(R) fibers used in bullet-proof undershirts were as effective at disrupting standing waves as they were at stopping bullets. The ochre-yellow Kevlar(R) midrange cone became a Bowers & Wilkins patent and a hallmark of the loudspeaker's natural sound quality.

In the 1980s Bowers & Wilkins developed the Matrix (matrix skeleton) structure and its interlocking panels, which took the bass effect of the speakers a big step forward. However, this is not directly related to car audio, not to be described.

Nautilus (Nautilus) speakers in 1998 changed everything. Including the appearance or sound quality of Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Although it took time to apply Nautilus' unrestricted approach to commercial loudspeakers, some of its technology is already being used in the highly regarded Nautilus 800 Series. 2007 also saw the formation of a partnership between Jaguar and Bowers & Wilkins engineers, which led them to work together on dream cars such as the XK, XF, and XJ to develop ground-breaking sound systems for dream cars such as the XK, XF, and XJ.

2. Sound characteristics

Thanks to the use of aluminum tweeters, the treble performance of the Bowers & Wilkins range on the market is clear and transparent; the Kevlar mid/woofer can carry a large dynamic range, and when enjoying music with a wide dynamic range, such as metal music and orchestral music, the midrange feels firm as a whole, and the bass is not muddy. But the cool effect is not B&W's strong point, the sonic shock of heavy bass is slightly less. In addition, because Bowers & Wilkins focus on the authenticity of the sound reproduction, sound coloration is very light, the quality of the audio source requirements is quite high, and the performance of digital music is not ideal.

3. Representative models

In the previous introduction, we have already told you that Jaguar established a partnership with Bowers & Wilkins in 2007, so the representative models of Bowers & Wilkins are naturally the entire Jaguar product line. One of the most representative models is the Jaguar XJ.

All the components of the new Jaguar XJ audio system have been customized for the car. The Bowers & Wilkins system used in the XJ uses a music processing mode and a center channel speaker mounted on the dashboard to create a stable stereo sound image in the middle of the car, even through a simple stereo audio signal. The stereo audio signal also produces a satisfying surround sound effect.

Meanwhile, the Audyssey MultiEQ XT acoustic equalization technology used in high-end home theater amplifiers helps to eliminate all sound distortion caused by the inherent acoustic variations of the vehicle, resulting in a clearer, more accurate sound effect. In addition to the top luxury model XJ, Jaguar's XF and XK also use Bowers & Wilkins audio systems.
