If you are looking for a getaway, then Wyoming is the perfect place to visit! This state has something for everyone. Whether you want to hike in the mountains, rock climb at Devils Tower National Monument, or take your dog on an off-leash adventure through Yellowstone National Park, there is plenty of things to do in this beautiful state.

If you are planning a trip out west and want some advice on where to go and what to see when in Wyoming, then keep reading!

Yellowstone National Park

Scenic beauty, wildlife viewing opportunities, and hiking trails are just a few of the attractions that you can find in Yellowstone National Park. The park is massive with lots to do for everyone! We took our dog on several hikes which she loved.

There was even an off-leash area where we could let her run around without being confined to a leash all day! One thing I would recommend doing while visiting this natural wonder is getting up early one morning to experience Old Faithful Geyser at its best.

For those who don’t know much about geysers, it erupts every 90 minutes or so but if you get there really early then the chances are high that there won’t be too many people around yet meaning you can get a really good front-row seat to the show.

We visited Yellowstone National Park in June and while we did have some chilly days, it was mostly warm with plenty of sunshine so I would recommend going during this time if you want to avoid being cold!

The best way to see Old Faithful is by getting up early for sunrise when it’s still pretty dark outside but there will be enough light to view the geyser without flash photography (which isn’t allowed anyway).

Once your night vision gets used to seeing things that are illuminated then there won’t be too many people around either which means shorter lines later on once more people wake up and start arriving at the park entrance!

Grand Teton National Park

The second national park that you can find in Wyoming is Grand Teton, National Park. Again, this state has the best of both worlds when it comes to nature and the outdoors.

You have your mountains right next to vast open plains which mean there are lots of opportunities for hiking as well as mountain biking! We biked around Jenny Lake which was a great way to see some more natural beauty without having to exert too much effort or go on strenuous hikes.

The views from the lake were gorgeous and we even saw several moose swimming across the water towards us (we didn’t get close enough though).

Jenny Lake also has boat tours where you can rent kayaks and take paddles out onto its waters if you want to get a closer look at some of the wildlife. The park is home to lots of bison and moose so you don’t have to go far for them to come up close and personal!

You can also do a scenic boat tour around Jackson Lake which I think would be fun, especially if there are already people out on kayaks or paddle boats because then you will feel like part of this adventure too!

It may sound strange but visiting Grand Teton National Park is what inspired me to try mountain biking (thanks Emily!)

There are plenty of other things that you can do while visiting Wyoming including taking your dog through Yellowstone National Park where they must remain leashed the entire time.
