You'll be welcomed here in Costa Rica with a smile from a red-eyed tree frog. .

As you know by now, Costa Rica is a gorgeous country, bordered by Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. The Pacific Ocean cradles Costa Rica at the western edge and the Caribbean Sea butts up againsh our eastern shores. It is home to hundreds of thousands of different plant species & Costa Rica wildlife. But perhaps none are as popular as the country's red-eyed tree frog. Locals and visitors alike are always excited to get a quick glimpse of this gorgeous creature, making this little fella one of the country's most popular animals. You'll see an image like this on many of the advertisements touting Costa Rica as "one of the happiest countries on the planet", along with our colorful toucan and our always-smiling, two-toed and three-toed sloths.

More important than this, what happens to you immediately after you get close to nature is amazing, astounding and absolutely wonderful!

For starters. . until you arrive here and are able to do this FOR REAL, I challenge you to stare at the image above for a minute or so. Notice the color of its eyes. . the texture of its skin. . the yellow, green and red colors and how they blend in with one another. Do you notice that this frog is smiling at you? Do you notice how comfy he appears to be, resting on a soft, mossy branch? How cute is that little nose of his? Can you see that he's so very happy that you're thinking about visiting his country of which he is very proud? Do you feel your stress level dropping at a rapid pace? Is your heart rate lowering? Can you imaging yourself this close to one of the many species of frogs that you will find here in paradise? Are you aware of the fact that there are almost 150 species of frogs here? How many do you think you could spot on a morning jungle hike?

We all have so much stress in our lives. Most of the time, it is very manageable. Other times, daily life and what we have to do to navigate it's challenges, we definitely need something to look forward to. Have you noticed that when you have something planned for the near future. . something that you deserve and have worked for, that every day is easier to maneuver? The red-alert levels are avoided because you now know that very soon, you'll be where you need to be. . to unwind, to loosen up & to unbend your tightness! That's what you need to think about doing RIGHT NOW.

We really don't have options. If you are in a stressful period at this very moment, one of your main goals for the next week is to find a way to allow your mind to rest a little. Because, if you don't, it could get serious for you. The American Institute of Stress reports that over 120,000 people die every year as a direct result of work-related stress. Additionally, healthcare costs resulting from work-related stress totals an average of $190 billion a year. That's scary. .

If you can work it into your busy schedule, take some time and see what Costa Rica has to offer. See why it's better than a prescription from your doctor to reduce stress in your life. Staring at red-eyed tree frogs works better to slow you down than taking two pills every six hours for the next 21 days. .

There are so many things to do in Costa Rica. And, you can keep it uncomplicated and easy. If you want to simply check into an all-inclusive resort in the middle of a jungle setting, it can be done! If you like the beach and want to lay in a hammock tied between two palm trees and do nothing but listen to the surf for 8 hours a day, that can be worked out for you as well. Want to climb a volcano or two? Want to soar like an eagle on a canopy zip line? Perhaps, volunteering at a bird or sloth sanctuary will lower that heart rate. Or, angling for fish bigger than you are off the coast of Quepos on a sunny morning! Do you enjoy bird watching? The resplendent quetzals, the scarlet macaws and our colorful toucans are waiting for you here to be photographed and enjoyed!

The list goes on and on. Plan your trip to Costa Rica, even if it's for months from now. You'll KNOW that you're going and the time from NOW until THEN will be more manageable and easy for you!
