Within the territories of Gabrovo and Tryavna municipalities, Balgarka Natural Park is a tapestry of terrain and climatic conditions. Around 70% of Bulgaria’s officially recognized medicinal plants are found within the park’s boundaries.

Visit the 19th-century Orthodox monastery near the village of Sokolovo. It is a popular destination for people seeking spiritual solace and a glimpse into the religious heritage of Bulgaria.

See the Vikanata Skala caves below the Buzludzha peak.

The rock massifs near the village of Stanchev Han are providing opportunities for both climbing and caving.

There is a diverse array of wildlife, including the majestic brown bear, the elusive gray wolf, the noble red deer, the agile roe deer, the robust wild boar, and the European badger.

Beglik Tash is composed of many different sized and shaped boulders and is located in an oak woodland near Primorsko on the Black Sea. Despite the enormous size of these volcanic rocks, they are reported to have been placed purposefully. There is evidence that the spiritual site was utilized for Pagan rituals. You can walk along a short walkway between tall, rising stones.

Adventurers are invited to immerse themselves in a world of breathtaking beauty and natural wonder in Central Balkan National Park, a preserved and protected pristine refuge with an amazing variety of plants and animals.

Enchanting hiking paths take hikers into the center of the park, through woods, and past secret waterfalls tumbling down moss-covered cliffs.

One marvel is the Saeva Dupka Cave, an amazing underground maze. Adorned with mesmerizing stalactite and stalagmite formations.

The Kurshuna Waterfalls, also called Maarta Waterfalls after the local river, is one of the largest waterfalls in the nation. Along the mossy limestone, a narrow ecopath leads people up steps, across multiple bridges, and past little natural water ponds.

Hikers and nature lovers are drawn to Pirin National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, by its breathtaking views and wild beauty. Get ready to be mesmerized by the jagged peaks, deep valleys, and alpine meadows.

Take the thrilling climb to Mount Vihren, Bulgaria’s second-highest peak with expansive vistas. Banderitsa Hut is the starting point of the Mount Vihren trek ending at Vihren Hut. Both cabins are easily accessible by road from Bansko.

Discover hidden alpine lakes that sparkle and come across Balkan chamois amid the wildflower-strewn meadows.

Rila National Park welcomes explorers to set out on amazing adventures with majestic mountains and glistening lakes.

The beauty of the park is demonstrated by the well-known Seven Rila Lakes, each with a distinct charm.

Here you can enjoy hiking along rushing rivers or enjoying the peace of the lakeshores.

The Serbarna Nature Reserve is one of Bulgaria’s top animal-viewing nature reserves, located along the Danube River in the northeast. It is the first wetland on the Balkan Peninsula to be legally protected and is recognized by UNESCO. Here birdwatchers can see red-footed falcons, purple herons, and Bulgaria’s only Dalmatian pelican breeding colony. Over 170 bird species, many of which are uncommon or endangered, can be found in its lakes and environment, which are located along the migration route between Europe and Africa.

One of Bulgaria’s and Europe’s most fascinating and biodiverse areas is Strandzha. The land is a natural transition between Asia’s and Europe’s flora, wildlife, and vegetation. Eighty percent of the Strandja Nature Park is covered by forests.

The network of trails in Vitosha Nature Park leads to breathtaking waterfalls.

Boyana Waterfall is surrounded by lush foliage and is beautiful to see tumbling down.

The park is also known for its magnificent gorges that have been sculpted by the forces of nature.
