You always wanted to take a trip to the USA, but you're concerned about its environmental impact? Relax! You can still visit this exciting destination and reduce your ecological footprint. It's science fiction come true: here are my top 12 sustainable hotels in the USA.

W Austin-Texas — Austin, Texas

The W Austin offers an excellent example of how green design and eco-friendly building processes can be combined with luxury and comfort. The hotel was built using energy-efficient methods and materials and has even eliminated 75% of the chlorine in the pools. It is also powered by 100% wind power, which makes it one of the most sustainable hotels in Texas.

Le Parker Meridien New York City — New York

Among the sustainable hotels in the USA, Le Parker Meridien is probably the most eco-friendly. It features several green building certifications, including its very own organic rooftop garden. The hotel uses solar panels to provide much of its power needs and even offers guests free electric car charging stations.

Parking around the city can be expensive, difficult to find and a lot of times there is a time limit on parking. It is very convenient for most people to use offsite parking services when visiting new york. Companies like Parkobilityoffer very inexpensive rates and the money is usually well spent when compared to other prices in new york. So park your car and travel the city on foot and only that way you would be able to expreince the true New York culture.

The Standard Downtown LA-California — Los Angeles, California

Another one of my favorite hotels among the top 10 sustainable hotels in the USA is The Standard Downtown LA, located in LA's Arts District neighborhood. It features many modern conveniences designed to reduce energy consumption, such as motion-sensor lighting throughout the hotel. But perhaps its most sustainable feature is its towering wind turbine, which powers part of the establishment's electricity needs.

The Ace Hotel – New Orleans – Louisiana

The Ace Hotel is a hot spot for architecture and design aficionados. It was designed by the same firm that created such iconic buildings as Seattle's Space Needle and Hollywood's Wiltern Theatre, so it seamlessly fits in with its surroundings while standing out from them at the same time.

Sustainable Features: Its solar panels produce enough electricity to meet nearly 37% of the hotel's needs, which is more than enough to power all of its guest rooms and common areas. Plus, guests can enjoy free electric vehicle (EV) charging stations onsite.

Rainbow Mansion-Houston-Texas

Another one of my favorite hotels among the top 10 sustainable hotels in the USA is Rainbow Mansion, which is billed as Houston's most unique Bed & Breakfast. It was actually constructed out of recycled materials, with timber for its flooring and staircases sourced from old buildings that were being demolished in the area.

The hotel also features five organic garden areas where guests can relax among beautiful flowers and grapefruit trees while listening to the sounds of nature all around them. There are even pick-nick tables where you can enjoy a wonderful meal outdoors.

The Surfrider Hotel-Oceanside-California

This hotel has won numerous awards for its commitment to sustainable design, including an award in 2009 from the US Green Building Council. This awesome four-star hotel is located just steps away from the famous Oceanside Pier, which means you can enjoy all of that classic pier atmosphere while staying at your gorgeous home away from home. The whole place is filled with reclaimed wood, recycled fabrics, and other awesome eco-friendly amenities.

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa-Florida Keys

If you want to experience what it's like to stay on a luxury desert island (which I know most people do), this is one of your best bets. Little Palm Island Resort & Spa is located on a private island, which means you get to experience the joys of living in the middle of nowhere while still having access to modern luxuries. The

The Allison Inn, Oregon

If being surrounded by the beauty of nature is your idea of a dream vacation, then this place in Oregon should definitely be on your list. The Allison Inn is one of the most sustainable hotels out there thanks to its epic green rooftops. They use solar roofs to generate energy for things like powering guest rooms, while 10,000 sq. ft. of green sedum planted rooftops are used to slow down stormwater runoff. Even the 5-acre low-impact vineyard on the property is eco-friendly - it utilizes Integrated Pest Management to prevent harmful pesticides from being used.

Best part? You can sleep in comfort knowing that you are doing your part to be responsible for the environment when you stay at The Allison Inn!

The Stone Manor, Massachusetts

When it comes to sustainable hotels, no one does it better than Stone Manor. They have made their commitment clear through their use of energy-efficient lighting, high-performance insulation, and airtight construction techniques that help save resources. Plus, they offer a 100% renewable source electric program for all guests that includes everything from towels to toilet paper.

As if that wasn't enough, Stone also offers organic bedding options throughout the hotel, has created an organic garden that provides the onsite restaurant with fresh produce while maintaining a sustainable water source through their use of collected rainwater.

And while you're there, check out the gorgeous 20-acre botanical garden where they are working to make it a pesticide-free area for both guests and wildlife.

Green Hotel, Texas

Located on the banks of the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, Green Hotel is built using recycled materials throughout including re-purposed wood siding from nearby Coney Island amusement park, and fiber-cement board siding made from 95% recycled paper waste and plant starch resin adhesives. The hotel also uses solar energy panels to help power lights and low-flow toilets to reduce water consumption.

Part of the hotel's focus on being eco-friendly is to reduce waste by offering more sustainable products that are free from harmful chemicals, dyes, synthetics, and toxins. The hotel also contains natural flooring throughout all public areas of the property made of bamboo, cork, and renewable eucalyptus wood.

The Hotel Del Coronado, California

This historic San Diego beachfront resort was built in 1888. And while it’s been modernized since then, they have kept with its original Victorian style to stay true to its heritage. There are no shortages of green efforts here. A few include insulating with recycled denim jeans for soundproofing, using soy-based foam instead of petroleum-based types, painting with low-VOC paints, installing energy-efficient lighting, and on-site recycling programs.

The Westin La Cantera Resort, Texas

This resort is located on San Antonio’s northwest side. Included in the list of eco-savvy practices are recycling over 95% of all hotel waste, composting food items to be used as animal feed for local ranchers, using recycled water for landscape irrigation, providing guests with organic skincare products by Aveda, using biodegradable bags at check out and encouraging guests to reuse their towels throughout their stay.
