Born and raised in Washington, I know almost everything there is to know about this beautiful state, and for that reason I am here to help the newcomers explore the state with prior knowledge.

Instead of including information about crime and language, since most of that information is easy to come by, this article will provide you with must-sees while you're here and other helpful ideas for you to adore your trip to Washington State.

The Big One

Ah, Seattle. Charming isn't it? Well, this is more than likely the most you'll hear about when talking about Washington. The home to Microsoft and Amazon, it's a gem of the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by mountains and water, there's not much of a better view than Seattle.

There is plenty to do in Seattle to keep you occupied. Pike Place Market is a crowded, but worth seeing attraction. Lined up with several different stores and boutiques, you are bound to have a heyday shopping here. Also, it is worth mentioning the food, as arguably some of the best mac and cheese you will have can be found at Beecher's; and of course, if you want some traditional Seattle coffee, you can go to Starbucks.

Bored of Pike Place? Well look no further, as not far from it is the Great Wheel, which sits on the waterfront and provides a dazzling view. From there you can access all kinds of unique shops like Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, which has real mummies!

No matter where you look, you will tend to always find something exciting to do, the activities are not limited to the ones listed.

Wanna see a game or two? Well, Seattle sports teams are worth the time. From the Seattle Sounders to the Seahawks, you will not be disappointed by what there is to offer.

Both teams having won their championships once in their history, and having an amazing playoff record, they provide enjoyment for all. You can find scheduling and tickets online for both, and both teams play at Centurylink Field in SoDo.

If football or soccer aren't your forte, there is also the Mariners who play at SafeCo Field, so you can pick your poison.

Around the Area

While Seattle is the center of attention in the state, there is much more than meets the eye. Set aside time to explore the other parts of Washington, such as the beautiful Mount Rainier. Part of the ring of fire, this beauty is the eye catcher of Washington.

There are also four other must-see volcanic mountains in the state that go by the names Mount Baker, Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens, and Glacier Peak. All are worth visiting, but vary in location.

Don't wanna travel far? Head across the water to the nearby city of Bellevue for a rich look at a growing city in the making with wonderful lifestyle and food.

If you feel like taking a ferry to the islands, travel to Whidbey Island and visit Fort Casey. There are plenty of beautiful views going to and from each side.

Places to Stay

Much like many other places, Washington State has Airbnbs which can be a cheaper and more spacious alternative to a hotel. There are plenty of reasonably priced properties in the area with welcoming people, but if you want to stay in a hotel, here are a few suggestions.

  • Salish Lodge: a beautiful location in the area known as Snoqualmie, it sits right on the falls and offers beautiful views of the surrounding cascades. This is somewhat of a luxurious stay, as you can get a room with an abnormally large tub. There are also several trails nearby you can hike if you want to be engulfed in nature.
  • Four Seasons: one of the best hotels to stay in while visiting Seattle, it's location is superb for exploring the waterfront and is surrounded by several delicious restaurants.
  • Westin Seattle: located on the opposite side of town to the Four Seasons, another very luxurious hotel in the Seattle area that provides you with a unique location and once again, several delicious dining options.

The choice is yours, but these are, of course, not the only options, just some of the best options for enhanced enjoyment.

What I call home can hopefully feel like yours as well. I hope these tips can provide an enhanced experience, and help you have an easier plan coming here than having to find what to do for yourself.
