The Most Oz-Some Land of All

Why the Land of Oz is the Best Fantasy Land

Before there was a world that included land(s) from Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, or Game of Thornes, there was the magical land of Oz. A colorful world filled with many diverse characters and friends to collect along the ICONIC Yellow Brick Road. I would gladly slap on some ruby reds and travel to Oz over any other fantasy land and you should too!

To not overwhelm you (dear valued reader) I will only be talking about the parts of Oz that the majority of the population knows of. This stems from the legendary 1939 classic movie, The Wizard of Oz. To many people’s surprise, there are a slew of other books taking place in Oz, but the first really packed a punch and was adapted into the film. SO, I shall stick to just talking about the beloved movie.

Let us jump right in, unlike a lot of fantasy worlds that are dark and spooky, for the most part, Oz is not! It truly is a place right over the rainbow. With oversized flowers and fields of beauty, the land is full of color. Plus, what a dream for nature lovers, duh. If one were to every question how to make it back to civilization, there is a convenient brick road to help travelers. As a bonus, it is painted bright yellow, so you can not miss it! If you are anything like me and are horrible with directions, this will come in handy in a new place you are exploring.

As a society today, we love attention and to be adored. We strive to get as many likes on photos and posts as we can. This will also carry into Oz. Look at how the residents of Munchkinland threw a parade for Dorothy! For something she really had no part in doing. Giant lollipops and choreographed dances all to celebrate someone who happened to be in a house that took a witch out. On top of that, I am sure with more time in the land, one could become besties with Glinda and have her teach you her bubble tricks. Imagine how much time you would save by skipping traffic.

Along with a town full of adoring fans, Oz offers up friendships. The real world comes with social anxiety and making friends is hard. Not in Oz! Dorothy gathered four friends in the time it takes me to construct a text to a friend. And, the new pals are true ride or dies. Scarecrow, Tinman, and Lion just met Dorothy that day and still risked their lives to break into a witch’s castle to save her. Then help her escape and murder the witch. How many of your friends would have been willing to commit breaking and entering, along with accomplishing you in murder on the FIRST day you met?

Of course, not all in Oz is bright and shiny. Yes, there might be a witch out hunting you down to get your shoes, but you can take her out with WATER! In other places, you have come up with a whole plan that can get messy. You might have to come up with a spell or potion to get rid of a wicked witch. In Oz, you can just hose them down and then be celebrated, AGAIN.

As stated before, Oz is full of miles of land that would make a nature lover skip with joy while breaking out into song. However, if you prefer city life, how about going to a city made out of emeralds. No wonder it takes time through cornfields, a forest, and a poppy field to get to the magnificent Emerald City. Who could turn down the sparkly streets or riding with a horse that changes colors as much as Katy Perry changes hair colors/styles? Plus sign me up for a spa-like treatment where I can dye my eyes to match my clothes.

Besides all the wonderful things above, overall Oz is a pretty chill place, where troubles melt like lemon drops. If my problems could be washed away with a bucket of water, I would be set. Not to mention now that the Wicked Witch’s castle is up for grabs, now is the time to buy it. Just picture how cute of a haunted Air BnB the castle would make. It could be Spooky Season all year long. #WINNING

The closest you can get to the real Oz is at the theme park, Land of Oz.

Keep all the major drama in the other fandom lands. Oz might have some mishaps here and there, but friends work together to end it all in a day. If you are not ready to pack your picnic basket, grab your dog, and catch the next twister to Oz...then you have no brain, heart, or courage to make this great land home.
