The City that Never Sleeps


I will start off by stating that the city sleeps eventually. There can be lights & sounds but the does sleep at some point. That being said there’s something for everyone at any time. Yeah, sure I said it eventually sleeps but most of the things to do become exclusive to those whom are associated with (friends & activities included). 


It’s safe to say that I’m a city person. Going around the city & finding something new to do & experience is so adventurous. I look around & all I see is buildings as y’all as can see. Lights so bright it feels like a spotlight shining on you, waiting for you to show the world who you are. I stop, take a breath and watch. Watch the world as it passes by. Watch as the people go around to show everyone who they are. Watch as they perform. Watch as they create miracles and get reactions to make a living as they themselves are living. To bring happiness and thrill, sorrow and anger. Causing lives to change or to escape a life by living in the moment.

 A moment. Comprised of shadowy movements in time. A small piece of memory to capture. Capture like a camera I look around and taking mental notes of the city. The city that never sleeps. With so much to see and so much to do it’s no wonder it is known for such things. It’s so difficult to be everywhere one can forget what’s right here. To be present. 
To be present is to be available. To be in a state where the focus and prime time is of now with little to no backlash of thought.

Understanding this I venture out to various commodities. The food, the fashion and the show. Compare what is good & what isn’t. Why things what they are and why they do what they do. Is this what it takes to get here?

The busy streets. Yelling from a car for moving too slow causing traffic. The traffic. Getting from one place to another without traffic is like getting a free snack from the vending machine. The speed like sonic to get to places on time through bus or train and the stations in between. With busy streets comes choices. 


So many choices. The choice to choose. Choose which train to take. Do you even take the train? Can you even take the train? Time becomes virtuous. So important you forget to leave and become late due to traffic based on the decision that you decide to take the train. 

So much traffic in New York especially with trains. So easy to get around everywhere through trains it becomes apparent that rush hour becomes hectic. There finds ways & times where trains becomes your best friend & you can maneuver your way around the city once you know where you’re going.

BROADWAY!! Self proclaimed & recognized. Each location has one more or less. This one is unique. The one that started it all. The one that paved the way to become a symbol, an identity. Not like Batman though or something else like the green arrow. Broadway is a way of entertains adventure. To see a show and to make it on broadway is a big deal. As I venture through the colorful art & the spread out animosity on the floors of the big apple you can see the face that is broadway. 

The sound of the city is like no other. The rural areas has their silence & unique sounds but none like the city. The alarms of the sirens tells us the beauty that is the city. The ambulance trying to pass through the traffic & the cars trying to follow its lead gives truth to the traffic. The sound gives so much life & culture to the ideal of the city. An ideal that everything & everyone is always loving. There’s always something to do & experience. To constantly grow & evolve regardless the reason. To constantly move to the finish line so that you can proceed to the next level. The next level which I can relate to can be food. 



Food is really important in the city that never sleeps. It brings life to a never sleeping city. It also brings style & culture together. With so much food it brings so many cultures & styles. It’s like a picture that’s worth a thousand words because the place can be the same but the experience is different. Also, the types of food are from everywhere. The city that never sleeps brings together food from many different lands and introduces many extravagant ways of eating & experiencing food. Bringing all the vibes & excitement as if going to broadway just to watch someone cook a meal as big as the super bowl. 



My relationship with nyc is ever growing. Always showing me something new while staying true to what is. Expanding the land & giving reason to the many areas that is. Showing culture & identity to the many places within itself. I find myself on a neverending journey to find all that is & maybe what may always be the city that never sleeps.
