Anyone who knows me has to put up with my bugaboo about bad podcast names. I always feel that an indie podcaster puts their heart and soul into developing a podcast with months of thought and planning, and then, at the last minute, decides on a name in seconds. It’s like their energy is drained and this is good enough. Doesn’t matter that there are three other podcasts with the same name. “They will find us.”

I’m elated to report that creator/host Tara Accardo has come up with one of the best names in podcasting. Taste Toast Travel. The name is alliterative. It perfectly describes the show's topic and has a playful, fun vibe.

The great name isn’t just window dressing. Taste Toast Travel lives up to its name. The Taste Toast Travel podcast is a weekly show, hosted by travel enthusiast Tara Accardo, that explores global destinations through the lens of food, drink, and cultural traditions. Tara explains: “My husband John, who was my co-host, is taking a step back. He’s had to take on more responsibility at his full-time job and is exploring some other fun things, so bandwidth-wise, it was getting pretty tough.”

Tara goes on: “While it previously focused on conversations between John and me with guest episodes every other episode or so, it will shift to solely guest episodes where I bring fellow travelers, experts, etc. on to share their story and inspire others. That podcast is really all about digging into the incredible power of travel, culture, and exploration. It feeds another huge part of my soul, in addition to the grief work I do.”

“As a couple, we definitely first bonded over our love of food, drink, travel, and culture,” Tara says.

Tara says: “Both podcasts really do speak to two very different sides of me, but they’re also so intertwined, in a way. In fact, I interviewed many of the same people for Taste Toast Travel that I’ve had on Life With Grief, because people have such incredible experiences and stories. It’s also refreshing for them not to talk about the grief at times.”

Tara explains her interest in travel and learning about other cultures: “Traveling and experiencing life abroad has been pivotal in shaping who I am today. From studying abroad in Florence in my freshman year of college — my first time ever out of the U.S. — to living in Rome and teaching English to the Italian military, to living in the countryside of Siena with my now-husband — and getting married there, too. Each of these experiences, and the small and big moments in between, have impacted me.”

Tara explains the objective of the show: “With Taste Toast Travel, as the name implies, it’s all about leaning into a love of all things food, drink, travel, and culture. It’s beyond just talking about what makes a dish so special or a drink so delicious, although we definitely dig into that, too. It’s about how these cultural experiences both locally and abroad change us as humans. Whether diving into a trip that became a core memory and taught us about ourselves, or completely uprooting your life and moving abroad, Taste Toast Travel exists for people who believe the world is worth exploring — even when they can’t always hop on a plane.”

Tara channels all of us who are not billionaires: “Like many people, I balance a career, everyday responsibilities, and limited time to travel. But I’ve learned that exploration doesn’t have to wait for your next big trip, and that’s what I hope to empower others to know and remember, too. We can all appreciate these things together, even if it’s from our couch, for now!”
