Exploring the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain: A Family Adventure Like No Other
When we first planned our trip to Valencia, Spain, we expected to enjoy beaches, old churches, and the smell of orange blossoms drifting through the streets. What we didn’t expect was to step into something that looked like a city from the future. Getting Around Turkey (Turkiye) by Air and Bus
In an earlier article, I wrote about a nice little hack of getting to and leaving from Turkey by way of connecting flights in Warsaw - an absolute delight. Now, I am going to give you the skinny on traveling by air internally in Turkiye (Turkey) via AJet and Pegasus Airlines, Istanbul's two major airports (SAW and IST), plus a few tips on traveling between cities by bus all based on a trip we took in September 2024.

The Genius Idea of Stopovers in Warsaw
Normally I aim to spend anywhere from two to three hours between connecting flights at international airports before moving on promptly to my final destination. In the adventure my wife and I undertook, we had a stopover in Warsaw of a whopping seven-and-a-half hours **during the day**. There is no way any airport is so good to spend that much time there during the day, so we were definitely going to see the city. But was it worth it? Could we see something and get back to our connecting flight without being frazzled?

10 Years ago... Snowboarding
10 Years ago I had my final ride in Freeride snowboarding, the sport I had given much of my early adulthood too, I had reached a semi professional level, sponsored by a European freeride snowboarding company, and I spent the most of my winters touring across Europe to compete in the Freeride World Tour.

"Kartveli" Performance
My niece and I went to see this performance on December 20, 2025. Kartveli is a young Georgian folk group that created a wonderful program sampling dances and songs from various regions of Georgia ("Kartveli" means "a Georgian person," both in terms of the geographic origin and identity, the umbrella term covering many different ethnic groups calling Georgia home).

Hiking Long Distance in Europe
Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera, Liguria, and sets hikers on a route through picturesque Italian seaside villages along the coastline of the eponymous national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll enjoy the lovely towns of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. It is best to hike between the towns on foot. The Blue Trail connects Riomaggiore in the east with Monterosso al Mare in the west. There is some breathtaking scenery along the way.
