Some of the most beautiful beaches can be found on the island of Bali.

The best-known beach is Kuta where people can sunbathe, swim, and surf.

Ubud is the cultural heart of Bali. Here you'll find the Ubud Monkey Forest. A sanctuary for gray macaques. The sanctuary also has three Balinese Hindu temples.

Borneo is a great place to visit if you want to see orangutans. Tanjung Puting National Park in Kalimantan is home to one of the largest orangutan populations in the world. It is also home to primates, reptiles, and birds.

Another place to see orangutans is at the Bohork Orangutan Center in Bukit Lawang. This is a tourist village in the Sumatran jungle.

The Gili Islands draw many visitors. They have beautiful beaches and are a sanctuary for turtles. There is a turtle hatchery. The islands are also popular with kayakers.

Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is comprised of three main islands and many smaller ones. Making their home here are Komodo dragons. You can go hiking, canoeing, or snorkeling.

Among the highlights of this national park is Pink Beach.

Few places suggest wild, untamed adventure like Borneo. One of the most ecologically diverse places on earth, Borneo is home to orangutans, exotic birds, Sumatran rhinos, pygmy elephants, and an array of other creatures.

In Kalimantan, in Indonesian Borneo, you can travel down the Kapuas River, the longest in Indonesia; visit villages of the indigenous Dayak people; and observe foreign influences from China, Malaysia, and even Europe in the ports and cities along the way.

You can also go trekking in the rainforest for a chance to see some of Borneo's famed wildlife in person. Bukit Baka-Bukit Raya National Park is a conservation area in West Kalimantan that includes two of the highest mountains in Borneo and supports wildlife such as orangutans, clouded leopards, slow lorises, sun bears, and many other species.

Another of Indonesia's famed volcanoes, Gunung Rinjani is a top attraction in Lombok. Rinjani itself does not see the eruptions and activity that some of the others have, but its caldera-forming eruption in the late 13th century is believed to have been one of the most powerful in human history. A lake sits in Rinjani's caldera, and within the lake sits Mt. Baru, another active volcano.

In Rinjani National Park you may spot animals such as the rare black ebony leaf monkey, long-tailed macaques, the sulfur-crested cockatoo, and other exotic species. Guided treks are available, and you can camp overnight in the park.

Pura Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most popular temples, built on a rock formation in the sea. The original formation began to deteriorate at one point, so a portion of the rock is now artificial.

Borobudur an ancient temple was built in the 8th century. It is among the most famous and culturally significant landmarks in Indonesia. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. At sunrise, you can take a torch-light climb to the temple.

Tana Toraja in the South Sulawesi Province lets you see the diversity of long-standing cultures in Indonesia. Here you can see the architectural style of Tongkanan, boat-shaped houses. You can go trekking in the countryside.

Lake Toba is among the natural wonders of Indonesia. The lake sits in a crater that was formed between 69,000 and 77,000 years ago. Here you can go swimming, water skiing, canoeing, and fishing.

Raja Ampat is an amazing area with cone-shaped islands that create a tropical paradise. Beautiful coral reefs make this a popular diving spot.

Rebo Village is located in Flores between Komodo and Lembata Islands. Among the attractions is the Kelimutu Volcano.
