Republican Fear is Hampering My Visit to America

I’m an American citizen and I’m married to an Argentine native. My visit to America is delayed because of childish Republican fears, fueled by Trump’s racism.

As an American citizen, I have always been proud of the values that my country upholds, including the principles of democracy, freedom, and opportunity for all. However, the recent political climate in the United States has left me feeling disappointed and frustrated, particularly when it comes to the issue of immigration.

In recent years, the Republican Party has taken a hard-line stance on immigration, often using fear-mongering tactics to rally support and gain votes. This approach has had a significant impact on not only the lives of immigrants but also on the experiences of American citizens like myself.

Despite being a U.S. citizen, I have been delayed in my plans to visit the United States because of the heightened immigration restrictions and security measures that have been put in place. The process of obtaining a visa and going through immigration checks has become increasingly difficult and time-consuming, leading to delays and frustration for many Americans, particularly those with family members or business interests abroad.

The Republican Party's fear of immigrants is particularly evident in their opposition to policies such as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which offers protection to undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children. Many Republicans have argued that the program incentivizes illegal immigration and that it threatens American jobs and resources. However, studies have shown that DACA recipients contribute significantly to the U.S. economy and have positive effects on their local communities.

Moreover, the Republican Party's rhetoric on immigration has also led to an increase in xenophobia and hate crimes against immigrants and people of color. This has created a hostile environment for many Americans and has contributed to the erosion of trust and social cohesion in the country.

As an American citizen, I believe that we should be striving to uphold our values of inclusivity, diversity, and compassion for all. We should be working to create a more welcoming and inclusive society that celebrates our differences and recognizes the contributions of all individuals, regardless of their background or origin.

In conclusion, the Republican Party's fear of immigrants is not only harming the lives of immigrants but is also having a negative impact on the experiences of American citizens like myself. We need to work towards a more compassionate and inclusive approach to immigration that recognizes the contributions of immigrants and the benefits that they bring to our country. Only then can we truly uphold the values that make us proud to be Americans.
