Outdoor Adventure Vacation Destinations

If you are looking for your next outdoor adventure, this list will help you brainstorm.

Nothing is better than a vacation where you get to explore Mother Nature. You don’t necessarily have to spend thousands of dollars so you can fly to Japan and climb Mount Fuji. You have a range of great choices right here in the US, and now is the best time to plan an outdoor adventure for your family.

One goal could be to get their faces away from their smartphones. They won’t want to soak their phones while they’re whitewater rafting, or to lose their phones in the ocean while they’re parasailing. Get your family to give up their phones, put on a helmet camera, and raft down a river or two. You’ll find great places where you can go hiking through the mountains and trails, enjoy some great water sports, and test your skiing skills.

Hiking

You can find great trails in national parks across the country. Think of the unforgettable trails of Yellowstone National Park or Glacier National Park. Before you plan your hiking trip, ensure that you know the level of expertise for each trail. Even though each hiking trail is unique, you might find some level of difficulties that should only be explored by experienced hikers. For example, the trails in Acadia National Park, although beautiful, are rocky and may not be suitable for younger hikers. A good option is to hire a tour guide to help you and your family through the rough terrains of the mountains or sleek sides of vast waterways.

Water Sports

Many people just can’t get enough of the water. Florida has some of the country’s best beaches, and they’re great for water sports such as parasailing near West Palm Beach. Nothing is quite like soaring through the air with the salt water gleaming beneath you, and the wind blowing through your hair. Doing water sports in the Florida sun is a great way to get the whole family together enjoying the cool water in the sun. Water sports such as canoeing, wake boarding and kayaking are all available at national parks as well, especially whitewater rafting at the Grand Canyon.

Skiing

Skiing is an exhilarating pastime. By day, you can breeze down the slopes, and by night you can sit by the fire, telling stories and drinking hot cocoa—or more adult beverages. The good thing about skiing is that you’ll find slopes for skiers of all skill levels. Skiing downhill, you can zooming by trees and steer around obstacles. Or, if you prefer cross-country skiing, you can wander through trails looking for animals and enjoying the wintry view. If you’re looking to go skiing in the US, great chalets are located all over Vermont, Colorado, and Utah.

Hang gliding

Hang gliding is another adventure that no one will forget. You might want to start at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, where the Wright Brothers figured out how humankind could take to the sky.

That’s just one choice, though. You’ll find many more places to soar with your family.

Outdoor vacation destinations are a great way to keep the family together, enjoying memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you like the heat and cool water splashing on your skin, the feel of the air at high altitudes or the cold wind whipping across your face as you glide down a hill, you will find what you need right here in the US. Always look into national parks for great areas to hike, kayak and go whitewater rafting. Get your family to forget their phones in the hotel and go out to enjoy the beauty of nature while they take in the breathtaking scenery and beauty of America.
