Fruska Gora National Park

This national park is located in a lovely spot where one can find the Fruska Gora Mountains between the Danube and Sava Rivers. Fruska Gora can be found atop a mountain that rises from the Vojvodina plains in northern Serbia. There is such beautiful flora and fauna here and cultural-historical monuments.

Many wooded areas are full of linden, oak, beech and willow trees as well as orchards and vineyards. In its forests, one can find over 700 species of medicinal herbs. Fruska Gora also has many animal species such as roe deer, rabbits, wild boars and large birds such as eagles.

The parks administrative offices are located in the historic city of Sremski Karlovci. At one time this was the 18th century political, spiritual and educational center of the Serbs and there are many historical buildings and museums to see.

Visitors to the national park will find 18 orthodox monasteries which house architectural treasures, libraries and frescoes. In the vineyards,there is wine tasting which is popular. There are many things to do such as biking, hiking, hunting and fishing.

Kapaonik National Park

The biggest mountain massif in Serbia is the Kopaonik also known as the Silver Mountain. Part of the Kopaonik Mountain Surface has become a protected zone within the Kapaonik National Park. Not only is this a national park but it is also the biggest and most important ski center in Serbia.

Kopaonik Mountain provides 160 days of snow cover and altogether there are 50 km of ski runs. Ski fans will discover that there are 24 ski-lifts and gondolas with 70 km of ski slopes for all level skiers.

Kopaonik National Park has the most modern hotels and ski-related facilities. It has become one of the most popular ski destinations for tourists in Serbia and Southeast Europe. Visitors can find hiking tours on which one can come face to face with animal species such as fallow deer, wild cats and birds like the gray falcon and the eagle.

There are many trees and plant species such as the Balkan beech, fir, spruce, yew and various kinds of pine, oak and maple. Among the bird species, you can find rock partridges, red-backed shrikes, scops owls, and woodlarks.

Kopaonik National Park is mostly a destination for those who are interested in skiing and snowboarding. Along with a luxurious hotel and entertainment at the resort centers visitors will also find lots of cafes, bars, and night clubs. The entire national park has extraordinary beauty, vast grasslands, picturesque forests and deep river gorges.

The Đerdap National Park

The Derdap National Park is the largest national park in Serbia. One of the high lights is the amazing Iron Gate Gorge with impressive cliff some of which rise up more than 500m. It all stretches along the Danube River for 100km and forms a natural border with Romania.

The national park sits on the right bank of the Danube and was named after the most beautiful gorge. The Derdap gorge is among the largest gorges in Europe and it consists of four gorges and three ravines. Other attractions in the park include more than 1000 caves.

Enjoy the Golubar Fortress, the famous Trajan's Board, and the Lepenski Vir archaeological site. The Derdap National Park has been poetically referred to as "the Iron Gates of Danube."

The wildlife making their home in the park are bears, lynx, wolves, and birds such as eagles and owls. It has become a popular hiking destination with marked paths and signposted viewpoints. The EuroVelo 6 cycling path comes through here.

The Tara National Park

The Tara National Park delights visitors with forests, impressive ravines, amazing views, and waterways. Tara is part of the Dinaric Alps. The highlight here is the Drina River canyon which is the third largest of its kind in the world. You can go kayaking on the two lakes - Perucac and Zaovine.

This national park is located in western Serbia and offers sweet-scented meadows, lovely mountain villages, and mysterious dense forests. You can take in all of the natural beauty from five amazing lookouts - Crnješkovo, Bilješka stena, Osluša, Sjenic, abd Banjska stean which is the most popular.

Other highlights here include the Carpet Meadow, Jagostica Village, the Drina River house and ethnic villages.

Wildlife making their home here are endangered brown bears in the forests as well as foxes, lynx, otters and more than 130 kinds of birds. You can delight in more than 1000 flora species among them the rare Pancic spruce.
