Europe is a continent that has so much to offer. From the historical sites of Rome, France, and England to the natural beauty of Iceland or Scandinavia. Europe offers everything for everyone! I have travelled Europe extensively over the last 10 years and have decided on my top 5 favourite countries…

Italy – Italy needs no introduction. With its stunning architecture, delicious food, and the canals of Venice, Italy is full of historical sites that are begging to be seen by us all and you could easily spend a year here and not see enough to scratch the surface. I adore Italy, and could spend weeks exploring its stunning countryside, delicious food and fascinating history. From the rolling vineyards of Tuscany to the ancient ruins of Rome, there’s so much to see in this beautiful country. Throw in some lovely coastal towns and villages as well as vibrant cities like Naples and Florence. We all know it is well known for its food and there is a reason for that. If you love good food, culture and history then Italy is the place to explore.

Ireland – So many people know about the beauty of Ireland that it’s almost become a cliché, but I still think there is no better way to spend St Patrick’s day than drinking Guinness with friends! It really depends what you are looking for in your trip and if you want culture or a bit of fun. Its called the emerald island for a reason. With its rolling green hills and crystal clear lakes, Ireland is a picturesque place to visit. Dublin is one of my favourite European cities with so much character and culture. Plus, the Guinness here is some of the best in the world! Not that I can stomach it. This is a country which is the worst kept secret out there.

France – I have to admit, if you asked me a few years ago what my favourite countries in Europe were, France would not be at the top of that list. But after spending some time there and taking part in their incredible culture, they have become one of my favourites. There is so much history here from ancient buildings still standing strong and of modern history and battlefield from centuries ago, it is a place to go if you love the things of old. The country is unsurprisingly beautiful with some excellent countryside villages to wander around as well as vibrant cities. Paris is obviously a must-see on any Europe trip, but don’t forget to explore further afield too – there’s so much to see, and if you find yourself being a bit of history buff the history surrounding World War Two is raw and honest. France is a must to all those who which to add a bit of class, and of course good food, to their European holiday. The countryside is also stunning and a great place for a picnic or cycling trip. As someone who is a massive child Disneyland is worth a little day trip to.

Spain – Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia are fantastic cities with something for everyone. It has so much culture too from art festivals through out summer in Barcelona or even in smaller towns like Seville where you can see performances for free on cobbled screens and hidden courtyards. The beaches are great if you want sunbathing or surfing trips on your Europe holiday. Of course there’s also the nightlife which combines everything Europe has to offer in a rowdy and this can put people often, but if you want the combination it is the place to go. The land of Flamenco dancers, bullfighters and siestas in the sun. Spain is one of Europe’s best kept secrets when it comes to beautiful beaches.

Germany – A place for fairytales and dreams. The Black Forest is a place I could see myself living in. It’s so quiet and the scenery is just beautiful. Other fairytale like towns are Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Bamberg. If you’re looking for a city to visit, Munich is definitely it with plenty of beer gardens and historical sights to take in. Now I’m going to be honest I’ve barely scratched the surface of this country, but there is so much to see and this is a place that every city feels like a different country. From the lively and vibrant Berlin, to a lot of history with some fascinating sites like Dachau concentration camp. If you’re looking for a country that has it all, then Germany is definitely worth checking out.
