If you’re thinking about relocating to southern California, there’s a lot of opportunity waiting for you when you arrive. Riverside is a bustling city with jobs, neighborhoods and attractions anyone will enjoy. Wondering what makes this move the best you’ll ever make? Check it out!

Affordable Housing Options

When compared to other cities in Southern California, Riverside is an affordable option for homebuyers. In May 2018, Zillow reported the median price of house listings in Riverside at $239 per square foot. The average rent for an 846 square foot apartment sits at $1,577, so if buying isn’t in your immediate plans, renting is an affordable option while you save up that down payment.

Beautiful Weather

For about 80 percent of the year, Riverside is around 72 degrees and perfectly sunny. The summer months are a little warmer, and with Newport Beach just an hour away, going a bit higher than 72 degrees isn’t a problem. There are also seven different pools in various parts of the city, so it’s easy to beat the heat when temperatures get too high. These ideal temperatures make Riverside the perfect location for your family, as you can spend time outside at the park, at a backyard barbecue and at one of the local outdoor celebrations.

Winters do cool down to the mid-40s. Though it doesn’t typically last the entire day, it is a nice break from the higher temperatures during the rest of the year. These cooler winters are perfect for switching up your wardrobe a little bit, so it’s not just shorts and t-shirts all year round.

Central Location

Riverside is only a short drive from so many attractions. As was previously mentioned, Newport Beach is just an hour away, so if soaking up some sun while feeling the ocean breeze sounds good one day, it’s a quick and easy drive. Disneyland is just 45 minutes away, so whether you’ve got little kids or just like to frequent the parks yourself, it doesn’t take long to find yourself at the “Happiest Place on Earth.”

In just a half hour from Riverside, you’ll end up in the San Bernardino Mountains ready to hit the slopes. Temecula, Los Angeles, and San Diego are also close enough they’re the perfect locations for a day trip, any day.

Employment Opportunities

When looking for employment in Riverside, you’ll notice there are plenty of opportunities. Some of the top employers right in the city include Riverside solar giant Vivint Solar, the most ethnically diverse University of California, leading telecommunication service Pacific Bell—AT&T, and a quality health care organization Kaiser Permanente. There are jobs in education, sales, health care, business, journalism, and more. With all the other exciting locations nearby, such as Disneyland and the San Bernardino Mountain ski resorts, you could find employment just outside the city as well.

Quality Schools

If you’ve got children, you’ve probably also got schools on mind as you consider moving to Riverside. The good news is Riverside has some highly-rated schools ranging from primary grades to high school. Check out Amelia Earhart Middle School or Mark Twain Elementary School in the Orangecrest neighborhood. Ramona High School and Martin Luther King High School are some top-ranked schools for your older children.

For you or your college-aged kids, University of California, Riverside provides a quality education. Check out their undergrad or graduate study programs, and choose to live off campus, in campus apartments, at the residence halls or in family housing. Students might also choose another path at Riverside City College. Academic programs include English, Geography, Banking, Pathway to Law School, Healthcare Technology, Sociology and a wide range of other topics.

Make Your Move

After discovering all there is to see, do and experience in Riverside, you’ll begin to realize how this could be the best move you ever make. Find a job, find a home, decide where you’re going to school and do whatever it takes to improve your life with your next move. It’s time you make it!
