Jungfraujoch - Europe's Highest Train Station

Standing on the Jungfrau Platform at 3454m above sea level, this icy experience and views will take your breath away... Found halfway between the Swiss-Italian border and the beautiful water features of Interlaken, Mt. Jungfrau can be found next to Eiger and Monch, with views of the Aletsch Glacier. The best starting point for this trip is departing from Lauterbrunnen, easily accessible by road and rail and with great connections to Jungfrau region. Whether visiting the Jungfrau for onsite activities or following one of the regional Glacier Trails, the Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe, definitely should not be missed out of a travel itinerary.

Jungfraubahn Centenary

Celebrating 100 years of service from Kleine Scheidegg, through the Eiger and Monch, then up the Jungfrau to the Platform Station. - to the Top of Europe.

The celebration efforts for visitors included viewings of all the exhibitions and narrated journey, as well as a stamped guide book designed to look like a passport — they were awesome!

This website is fantastic! Loads of information about the area, accommodation info, booking arrangements and types of activities on offer both in the area but on site as well including hiking below the snow line, skiing above it, the First Flyer, glider and mountain carts amongst others...

This is one activity I really want to try on my next visit! Can you even remotely imagine the views from way up there, high above the peaks and glaciers?

Click on this image and have a look through the adventure card information to purchase a pass which can be used to book from many different activities. For those looking for the perfect gift for traveling friends gift vouchers from Jungfrau begin at 20CHF and got all the way up to covering the cost of rail tickets and excursions for the duration of a "yet to be planned" trip.

Activities and Train tickets can be booked online, as well as accommodation and any other advice, information and links needed for planning purposes. Visitors can also buy a summer pass, valid between 1st May and 30th November on all the travel routes listed on the Jungfrau and Wengeralp Railways. The 560CHF price-tag may seem high but it should be pointed out that it is for unlimited travel in one of the most beautiful destinations ever!

Jungfraubahn, the highest railway in Europe, is open all year round...so what are you waiting for?

All year access to the region and the variety of summer and winter activities for all ages means this really is the destination with something for everyone. Although a wee bit pricey compared to neighbouring countries, Switzerland offers an insight into one of the most positive and life-affirming societies to be found. Quality and honest service come as standard in this society, planning is easy with such a well-planned transport infrastructure and tourists are both welcomed and well-looked after. I can't wait to get back there — this is one of my absolute favourite holiday destinations, no matter what time of year it is!

Oh...and then there's the food...swiss chocolate, awesome cheeses and fondue...these have to be eaten, not simply described...

Go on...book it.
