Small Town, Big Romance

Do you like romance? Well, probably if you are reading this article! I ask because, this next town we are showcasing here today with America's Most Romantic Getaways is one that will BLOW YOU AWAY! I mean, this place is so romantic, it's straight up dangerous. If you like romance enough, unless you live in a substantially romantic location, you may want to never leave, and end up becoming a resident of this fast growing town. Of course, I am talking about the incorrigible Jonesville, South Carolina.

Jonesville is such a beloved little town that many historians suggest it is the birthplace of the term "Jonesing". When colonial settlers would grow weary in their everyday lives and find themselves reminiscing of better, more romantic times while on holiday, they would call the feeling "Jonesing", in reference to where they had stayed. Nowadays, mostly drug addicts use the term to describe withdrawal symptoms, but it's amusing to see the turn that words can take over the years.

What's in Jonesville itself that makes it so romantic? Well, first of all, it's the culture and history of the town. This is portrayed in their many local churches, including the irreplaceable Bethany Baptist Church, the holy and giving Gilead Baptist Church , pillar of the community Foster Chapel Baptist Church , the ever important and truly blessed Jonesville Baptist Church and a couple Methodist churches. Another must do activity for couples is hiking through the Jonesville Memorial Garden, which is the PERFECT place to have a romantic picnic breakfast, lunch or dinner.

One of the most fantastically romantic elements of Jonesville, South Carolina is the fact they house distribution centers for not just Dollar General but Belk too! I know right! Who wants an over priced mall when you can get quality merchandise at a great deal! Any couple building together knows that there are few more things more romantic than saving money, so planning your vacation to Jonesville is just an economically viable thing to do. And we all know what happens to people who aren't economically viable.

What happens when you're not economically viable

What about the food you ask? Let me tell you something, it's beyond reproach. You'll swoon over the succinctly named The Cafe. When you are there, try the hamburger steak. It's the best of both worlds. They say variety is the spice of life, making T & L Diner possibly the most romantic place in the state. With weekly specials, things are never the same, so you never know what you and your partner(s) are going to get. Pete's Family Restaurant is temporarily closed, but we hope they'll open soon enough! However, the building is abandoned, and nothing is more romantic than spontaneous make out sessions in empty, dark parking lots.

When my wife and I are there, we love to visit Cherokee Tiedowns. You wouldn't think a shop selling car tiedowns could be romantic, but I guess with the spirit of the Native American tribesman their business pays tribute to, they pull it off anyway. I highly recommend you stop off there, and be sure to visit their website https://cherokeetiedown.com/ for more information. Sometimes, you can tiedown more than just your car, if you know what I mean, nudge nudge wink wink say no more.

I would rate the four City Council members from most romantic to least romantic as follows: Councilman Ronald A. Young, Councilman Preston Bennett, Councilwoman Ann Queen and Councilman Ronnie Jenkins. If you've ever met Ron, you'll understand why he's at the bottom of this list. He's still a nice guy though. To add the Mayor into the mix, I'd rank him after Ann but before Ronnie.

All in all, it's hard to get better than Jonesville. I mean it. It's small town bliss with shopping options like you're in the big city with the Belk distribution center at your fingertips. If you don't stay here at least once in your life, you'll never know what the rest of us are Jonesing about! For America's Most Romantic Getaways, I am Sharon Pate saying stay romantic America!
