As soon as I received the invitation to experience a "Perfect Day at Coco Cay" on the Celebrity Reflection my favorite Lou Reed song started playing in my head. The song along with the anticipation of experiencing the perfect day was almost too much to bear. I needed an escape from my computer, from cooking dinner, doing dishes and laundry, etc. I needed a PERFECT DAY!

As a seasoned traveler and a lover of all things sun-kissed and sea-breezed (that’s why I left New England to move to Florida), I’ve always been on the lookout for the ultimate island escape. CocoCay, Celebrity Cruises’ private island, promises just that. But would I get that true escape that I so desperately need in a matter of a weekend? I boarded the Reflection in Fort Lauderdale on a Friday afternoon to find out. It was to be my FIRST cruise with Celebrity Cruises (more about that soon) and my first trip to their private island.

I absolutely love that no matter who you are, how old you are, what you love…if you’re planning a girls’ getaway, a romantic retreat with your significant other, or a fun-filled adventure with the grandkids, CocoCay has something for everyone.

From the moment the Celebrity Reflection docked, I was greeted with vibrant colors, crystal-clear waters, and a palpable sense of excitement. The island has been meticulously designed to offer a seamless blend of relaxation and adventure, making it easy to tailor your day to whatever pace you prefer.

For those with a need for speed and a love for heights, Thrill Waterpark is the place to be. Home to North America’s tallest waterslide, Daredevil’s Peak, this park offers a heart-pounding adventure. I stood and watched people going down Splash Summit’s twisting slides. There’s also the Wave Pool, which is perfect for those who want to experience the fun of the ocean waves in a controlled environment.

Not a fan of heights? No problem! There’s also the Adventure Pool, featuring an obstacle course that guarantees fun and laughter. A zipline that soars over the island is another highlight, providing a bird’s eye view of the stunning surroundings. It's a must-do for thrill-seekers and offers a unique perspective of CocoCay and the beautiful teal water of the Bahamas surrounding it.

Serenity and Relaxation is MY Jam!

If you’re like me and sometimes prefer a more tranquil experience, Coco Beach Club is a haven of serenity. Picture this: an exclusive beach area with overwater cabanas, complete with private slides into the ocean. These cabanas are the epitome of luxury, offering a secluded spot to relax and enjoy the sound of the water lapping at the water's edge. The infinity pool at the club is another great spot for unwinding, offering stunning views of the ocean.

The options for those of us seeking relaxation also include Chill Island. With its soft sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, it’s the perfect spot for a romantic picnic. I loved the beachside cabanas – they provided the perfect mix of shade and sun, and the service is impeccable. Imagine lounging with your loved one, a gentle breeze, and the distant sound of the ocean. Pure bliss!

Perfect for Multi-Generational Trips

CocoCay isn’t just about adrenaline and tranquility – it’s also a fantastic destination for families. As you can see, there are endless activities to keep them entertained. Captain Jill’s Galleon is a pirate ship adventure playground that will spark their imaginations, and Splashaway Bay will be an absolute hit with its water cannons and fountains.

The island’s Snorkel Shack offers gear for exploring the vibrant underwater world. What a thrill it is to spot colorful fish and even a few rays swimming about. It is a wonderful way to introduce the entire family to the wonders of marine life.

For a unique experience, you can hop onto a kayak and paddle around the clear waters. The Glass Bottom Boat Tour is another highlight, allowing those on board to see the ocean’s beauty without getting wet. These family-friendly activities are perfect for creating lasting memories.

For a more upscale dining experience, the Coco Beach Club’s restaurant serves delicious, freshly prepared seafood. YUM...their lobster sandwich!

For dessert, don’t miss the soft-serve ice cream stations scattered around the island.
