Dubai Expo 2020 was a World Expo organised by and hosted in Dubai. A world expo is an event where nations all over the world showcase their achievements. The venue changes from year to year. Dubai Expo 2020

Dubai Expo 2020 was opened on 1st October 2021 and closed on 31st March 2022. The expo was initially scheduled to be hosted in 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. Despite being hosted in 2021, the organisers decided to keep the name Dubai Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. Within a period of 6 months, the expo attracted over 24 million visitors.

Site

The venue, expanding over 436 hectares, sits in between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, 19 minutes from popular hotels such as Avani Palm View Dubai. Credit for the incredible design that includes three districts goes to HOK, an American firm. The three districts are dedicated to three concepts: sustainability, mobility, and opportunity.

There was also an area where emergency services were administered; the area consisted of an emergency care room and isolation room and offered helicopter and ambulance services.

Opening ceremony and closing ceremony

The opening ceremony was a grand affair. Several celebrities attended the expo to entertain the attendees. Ellie Goulding, Andera Bocelli, Lang Lang, and Mayassa Karaa are some of the performers at the opening ceremony.

Thousands and thousands of people started pouring into the city to get a glimpse of the opening ceremony; it is likely that all the hotels near Dubai Expo were all but sold out.

The closing ceremony was as grand as the opening ceremony, if not grander. Several popular artists graced the ceremony with their presence.
