Renowned for its azure waters, balmy weather and white sand beaches, Maldives is indeed one of the best tropical destinations in the world. Although destination could be best enjoyed if you visit here with your loved one visiting here solo has its perks too, here are few tips and things you should know before you visit here as a solo traveller!

Reserve your accommodation

If you are travelling to the Maldives solo it is necessary to book your accommodation in advance to avoid last-minute confusions and hassles. Some resort properties also offer you great deals and discounts on advance booking so that you could enjoy a memorable stay.

Choose the right time

The best times to visit the Maldives is between November to April; this is when the weather will at it best, with brilliantly clear skies, warm and pleasant beaches and surreal conditions under the water with perfect visibility. It is also the best times to surf and to engage in a myriad of leisure activities. The remainder of the year would have monsoonal rains occasionally and could sometimes receive violent storms as well.

Packing your necessities

For a memorable holiday especially when you are travelling alone, take the essentials with you. Double-check you have packed your medications, your electronic devices and importantly your health and sanitization items. As you are visiting a tropical destination, make sure you bring with you a sunscreen with lotion with SPF 60 at the least, a pair of good shades, a had and proper swimwear. Also, make sure that you bring extra clothes (not too many) that are light and comfortable. You should also consider bringing with you a good book to read during leisure as well.

Getting here

If you are visiting here from a western or European nation, you could rarely visit the islands by a direct flight. Most flights to the Maldives originate from countries such as Sri Lanka, India, the UAE and Singapore. And you will also have to use one of these countries for your transit. If you are a bit concerned about the cost, remember that the closer you are to the Maldives the cheaper the flight fare is. Also, most of the accommodation around the archipelago are located on remote islands and you will have to take a seaplane or a speed boat to reach these destinations You could use the local ferries if your resort property is located on a populated island. Some of the Maldives island resorts the likes of Grand Park Kodhipparu also offer private transfers using which you could reach your resorts directly so it is better to check with your resort if they have this option.

Once you get there…

With the realization of having your abode and a surreal environment all to yourself, as soon as you reach your resort you will certainly be delighted that you have made the right choice! You could explore the resort’s surrounding in peace, go for a swim or lounge at your private accommodation and enjoy peace. The resort would also have spas at which you could enjoy a myriad of treatments. If you opt-in for a pool villa, your completely private abode would also have a jacuzzi from which you can settle in, relax and witness some of the best sceneries of the ocean. Apart from that, there are numerous activities you can part take in, for example, scuba diving and snorkelling would be an ideal option to enjoy. Though you will be accompanied by certified divers during your endeavour, exploring the underwater paradise in the Maldivian waters is an experience that must not be missed. You could also enjoy some of the best seafood dishes in the Maldives as well.
