If you are bringing the family along for your holiday in Glenelg Adelaide and wonder what you can do whilst there, this article has you covered. Glenelg is a wonderful city that you can explore with the whole family. There are plenty of things to do here, as a family so if you picked the city out of the rest in Australia, you have made the right choice. Here are six of the most popular things you can do if you are spending the day in Glenelg with family.

Glenelg Beach

Glenelg Beach is said to have the perfect Mediterranean atmosphere with a dry climate that is warm in the summer and mildly cool in the winters. If your children love the beach then you can spend the whole day here, only returning to your accommodation in Glenelg at dusk. The kids could play for hours in the powdery sand, build sandcastles, go swimming in the relatively safe and calm seas and have a picnic lunch if they so choose. If you are staying until dusk make sure you catch the spectacular sunsets that paint the water bright orange and pink before you go. If you are wondering about safety, the beach is well patrolled by lifeguards and yellow flags are marking where it is safe to swim.

Glenelg Foreshore Playspace

Adelaide has a series of play spaces that have been designed for the kids to have a safe space to play in. The Glenelg Foreshore Playspace is such an area where your children can have a rollicking good time in the water and the sand, a climbing dome, a hammock swing, a raised and sunken pod where they can sit and play, a giant water slide, timber logs for balancing games and much more.

Mosely Square

A quick drive in the direction of the Town Hall from your hotel the likes of Oaks Glenelg Plaza Pier Suites is Mosely Square. It is a vibrant and colourful location that can be considered one of the cooler places to visit in Glenelg. The space is a constant buzz of activity from local events to markets to the occasional concert. There are even yoga sessions that you can attend on weekends for just $5 each. You will find the streets leading up to Mosely Square lined up with restaurants and cafés in case the children get hungry and demand something to eat.

The Beachouse

The Beachouse is arguably the best place to bring your kids to when in Adelaide. The entrance to the amusement park is absolutely free and you have to pay $2 for a card that you can top up depending on which rides the kids go on. There is a café in the Beachouse if you would fancy a good cup of coffee while you herd your kids from ride to ride. The waterslides will be heated so you don't have to worry about them catching a cold and there's wifi if your older children would rather play on their phones. It is open all seven days of the week.

Bay Discovery Centre

The Bay Discovery Centre is an interactive educational museum that showcases the history of Glenelg and how it came to be. You will find the story told in various mediums that will be easy for young children to understand. It is situated in the Town Hall so you can probably head there after the kids have exhausted themselves at the Beachouse.

Glenelg Pier

The Glenelg Pier was first built in 1859. It used to stretch out over 215 m but when it was rebuilt it had to be shortened. Today it's about 150 m less. There's a rich history surrounding the pier which you can ask a local as you walk down.
